Devialet has released a new amplifier called Astra. According to the makers, the Astra redefines the boundaries of hi-fi sound with its unparalleled performance. There was already the Opel Astra and now there is also the Devialet Astra. Would the person who came up with the name for the new amplifier know that there are also several thousand cars driving around in Europe with the same name? We don’t know and it doesn’t really matter. The fact is that the Devialet with its Astra is trying to serve a different customer group than Opel with its Astra.
The Devialet Astra is, according to its makers, the most advanced integrated audiophile system to date, integrating a decade and a half of research and development into one device. The Astra has an analogue RCA line input, a turntable input (RCA) and various digital inputs. Connection to a network can be established with a UTP cable or wirelessly via WiFi. Devialet offers seamless in-app control and a brand new advanced configurator. The Devialet Astra is fully configurable to get the best out of any sound setup.

Eversolo recently released the Eversolo DMP-A10 network player, has expanded its product range with the introduction of a robust stereo power amplifier named AMP-F10, operating in class AB. The design of the AMP-F10 mirrors that of the DMP-A10, ensuring both technical compatibility and aesthetic harmony between the two devices.
The Eversolo AMP-F10 can deliver a maximum of 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 320 watts into 4 ohms. The output stages can also be bridged to create a mono power amplifier that can deliver 650 watts into 8 ohms and 950 watts into 4 ohms (all specifications RMS). The flattened edges of the aluminum housing merge seamlessly into the cooling fins on the sides, which are not only used for their actual (cooling) task, but also form an essential design element in the design.
The foundation of the circuit consists of a robust linear power supply featuring a central toroidal transformer. A DC filtering circuit is implemented to prevent DC components from the mains supply. According to the designers, this circuit successfully mitigates low-frequency DC interference, ensuring that only pure AC power reaches the audio circuits. 06. Lyngdorf Audio FR-2: Floorstanding speaker designed to be placed against the wall
Lyngdorf Audio has introduced a new floorstanding speaker, the FR-2. This model is uniquely engineered for wall placement, facilitating optimal visual and acoustic integration within a room. Lyngdorf FR-2

Lyngdorf FR-2: best sound performance by placing it against the wall
The FR-2’s drivers are integrated into an unusually shallow speaker design that works with the room’s acoustics rather than against them. The FR-2 is specifically tuned for in-wall placement, with the woofers positioned as close to the wall behind the speaker as possible. This provides ideal low-frequency impulse response, resulting in surprisingly tight, powerful bass unheard of in most freestanding speakers.
The FR-2’s two high-quality woofers with a diameter of 18 cm are equipped with a stiff, vented die-cast basket, an extra strong and large magnet and a very light aluminium cone, while the soft-dome tweeter also uses an extra powerful magnet. This results in the highest efficiency and a high maximum volume level, while keeping distortion low. The very linear impedance (approx. 4 Ohm) ensures that every amplifier performs optimally. The bass reflex port is positioned downwards, so that it is out of sight and acoustically always maintains the same ideal distance to the floor boundary and the edge of the wall.
05. FiiO BTR17: A compact masterpiece
FiiO has unveiled the BTR17, a premium portable Bluetooth DAC and headphone amplifier tailored for audiophiles seeking an exceptional listening experience on the go. Featuring dual ESS DAC chips and THX amplification, along with compatibility for advanced Bluetooth audio formats like LDAC and aptX HD, the BTR17 ensures a rich and nuanced sound quality. Consumers have the option to select from two color variants: blue and black.
The BTR17 features Bluetooth 5.4 and is compatible with advanced codecs such as LDAC, aptX Lossless, and AAC, providing a reliable connection and a high-fidelity wireless listening experience, as stated by the manufacturer. The inclusion of the Qualcomm QCC5181 chip allows for transmission speeds reaching 2.1 Mbps, enhancing the detail and clarity of music playback, according to the designers. Additionally, in USB DAC mode, it supports audio playback at resolutions up to 32-bit/384kHz or DSD256, positioning the BTR17 as an outstanding choice for home audio use.
Digital-to-Analog (DA) conversion is executed using a duo of DAC chips from ESS Technology, specifically the ES9069Q model. According to the manufacturer, the signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 120 dB, indicating that noise is not a concern.
The device offers a battery life of around eight hours, which is adequate for most situations. However, users who are stationary at their desks can utilize Desktop Mode, allowing the BTR17 to remain continuously powered through the USB-C connection, thereby conserving battery usage. A depleted battery can be fully recharged in approximately two hours.
04. McIntosh MA5300: Compact and powerful integrated amplifier
The McIntosh MA5300 integrated amplifier is proof that big sound doesn’t have to come from a huge device. It’s the most compact solid-state integrated amplifier in the lineup, in terms of output power and physical size, making it an ideal choice for smaller spaces or for someone just starting out with building a home audio system. This amplifier delivers 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms or 160 watts into 4 ohms per channel. The new dual-stage blue wattmeters give an accurate reading of output power for both 8 and 4 ohms.
The McIntosh MA5300 model has a more compact case than its brothers in the line. The amplifier design remains true to the appearance of classic McIntosh components. The front panel is made of glass and has aluminum side inserts. Fiber optic backlighting and LED diodes are traditionally used.
On the front of the McIntosh MA5300, two wattmeters are symmetrically located, illuminated in blue. There is a fluorescent display showing the selected source, volume level and other symbols necessary for setting up the device. On the left side of the front there is a 6.3 mm headphone jack and an input selector knob, which when pressed can be used to adjust the balance, navigate the menu, etc. On the right is the power/standby key and the volume control, which is also used in the menu settings.
The rear panel of the McIntosh MA5300 features a total of 12 inputs – 6 analog (4 unbalanced RCA, 1 balanced XLR and 1 MM phono input) and 6 digital inputs (2 coaxial and optical, 1 USB and 1 proprietary MCT for use with compatible SACD / CD transports). All digital inputs are housed in the DA1 digital audio module, which can be replaced in the future with a more advanced module as new digital audio technologies are developed. The 8-channel 32-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is used in Quad Balanced mode and supports high-resolution DSD256 and DXD 384 kHz formats. Each input can be named for ease of use.
The MA5300 uses proprietary monogrammed heatsinks to dissipate heat from the transistors, while the advanced high-current transistors themselves eliminate the need for warm-up and ensure maximum performance from the very beginning. New and improved microprocessors are used to improve overall system performance. A built-in tone control helps to adjust the sound to the listener’s taste.
It is also worth mentioning that the new McIntosh MA5300 amplifier has found its place in the proven proprietary technologies, including Power Guard®, Sentry Monitor ™, PassThru, headphone amplifier High Drive with (HXD®). The amplifier protection system also includes a Power Guard circuit, which prevents clipping and helps to protect the speaker systems. The Thermal Protection circuit protects the model from overheating.
03. McIntosh MC462: Extremely powerful stereo amplifier
The McIntosh MC462 amplifier is the most powerful device in the McIntosh two-channel power amplifier series. The McIntosh MC462 chassis is made of polished stainless steel. The stylish glass front includes fiber optic backlighting combined with LEDs and has aluminum handles on the sides for carrying and rack mounting. Two pointer wattmeters located on this front allow you to determine the output power as accurately as possible. Below is a handle that turns off their backlighting, and also activates one of their two operating modes – normal and Hold, used to determine peak power values. On the right is a handle for power supply and switching the McIntosh MC462 to the power control mode using other McIntosh components. Between the wattmeters are LED indicators of the Power Guard protection circuit.
The McIntosh MC462 amplifier uses a balanced topology of Quad Balanced circuits. The essence of this technology is that each channel has two amplifiers matched to each other, the outputs of which are combined with the Autoformer output autotransformers. As a result, the device easily develops 450 W per channel, while producing an impeccably clean sound with an insignificant amount of distortion (THD is only 0.005%).
On the upper platform of the McIntosh MC462 amplifier, a power transformer weighing almost 14 kg is installed. Adjacent to it is a pair of autotransformers with separate taps for loads of 2, 4 and 8 Ohms, which allow the power amplifier to work with any speakers. Next is the amplifier section with massive heat sinks. In the rear part, there is one linear and one balanced input, which are duplicated by similar outputs for connecting another power amplifier. There is also an input selector, a jack for remote control of the amplifier and a pair of jacks with which the McIntosh MC462 itself can activate the components connected to it.
The McIntosh MC462 amplifier’s output stages use powerful transistors with ThermalTrak technology for precise temperature control and efficient performance. For protection, a Power Guard circuit (prevents overload), a Thermal Protection circuit (prevents overheating) and a Sentry Monitor (monitors the output stage) are used. Located on the top platform of the case, 6 pairs of gold-plated terminals of a new type are used to connect speakers with an impedance of 2, 4 and 8 ohms.
The amplifier’s sound can be described as smooth, precise, rich and at the same time fast, with excellent macro- and microdynamics. The scene that this amplifier creates extends far beyond the speakers connected to it.
