Michi is Rotel’s flagship product series. Fans of high-quality vintage audio will obviously remember these reference-grade models. The Michi series included the following devices, released at different times: Rotel RHB-10 power amplifier, Rotel RHC-10 passive Rotel RHQ-10 phono preamplifier, Rotel RHA-10 active preamplifier, Rotel RHT-10 FM tuner, Rotel RHCD CD player -10, power amplifier Rotel RHB-05.

And now, more than half a century since the series first launched, Michi is back. No wonder this name is translated from Japanese as “direction”. The vector set by undoubtedly successful predecessors is continued by modern equipment. There is also continuity: this is not only a high level of models, transferred to modern technologies, but also a laconic, proven design. Currently, the series includes three models: a preamplifier and two ends – stereo and mono.

The Michi S5 stereo power amplifier, best in its class in terms of sound quality, produces 500 W per channel into a load of 8 ohms in class AB and more than 800 W into 4 ohms. The dual-mono architecture features two custom high-capacity (2200VA) toroidal transformers, manufactured in-house and individually packaged with epoxy to eliminate noise and vibration. There are standard inputs on RCA and balanced on XLR. Together with the multilayer chassis, all this gives the component a weight of about 60 kilograms. A bank of 4 UK patented storage capacitors totaling 188,000uF provide exceptional bass energy while maintaining fine detail precision and control of the 32 high current output transistors. All this effortlessly guarantees rhythmic precision and synchronization even under the most difficult loads.

High audio quality must be a top priority, from product concept development through to production. This is evident in the S5, the result of countless hours of engineering evaluation of design options, critical evaluation of components and tuning of sound. Precision at its best, while delivering on the promise of delivering the highest quality audio, delivers entertainment worthy of the Michi logo. On the front panel there is a graphic indicator showing the output of each channel across the entire frequency spectrum, as well as the temperature of the output stages.
