Last year, Shanling released the M6 Pro, an upgraded version of its basic digital portable player that significantly improved its performance. Now Shanling is once again looking to further improve the M6 with the announcement of the M6 Ultra . This new audio player makes significant changes to its Android OS and DAC chip, aiming to modernize the system and make it more user-friendly with a faster Snapdragon 665 processor with Android 10 open source.
4 Latest AKM DACs AK4493S
M6 Ultra is our first portable player adapted to the latest generation of AKM DACs, using four pieces of AK4493SEQ for a unique Quad-DACs design. It serves as a great alternative to our ESS Saber based M7 portable player. This multi-DAC concept was inspired by several old-school Shanling CD players, with the goal of maximizing the potential of the DACs in a balanced circuit. Now, with four DACs, we can split the signal four ways between each of them, producing a completely independent, fully balanced output. The amplifier design has been further adjusted for this array of Quad-DACs, allowing higher output power than was possible in our previous AKM-based M6 models. Offering up to 720mW @ 32 ohms.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor
The rest of the M6 Ultra lives up to the high standards set by our latest Android players. Powered by a faster Snapdragon 665 processor, it provides enough performance for smooth playback of even high-resolution content, including smooth navigation through vast media libraries.
5-inch 1080p touch display and stunning new color
Control is handled via a nice, vibrant 5-inch 1080p touch screen, all packaged in Shanling’s classic aluminum and glass body, this time inspired by the curves of the M3X and M8. With M6 Ultra we’re also adding a new color to our portable players – a stunning emerald green. You can pair it with a matching green leather case, or go the more traditional route and opt for a black M6 Ultra and a brown leather case. (Leather case sold separately.)
Bluetooth 5.0
The Bluetooth module of the Shanling M6 Ultra player is designed as a transceiver, so it can send and receive a signal, while in addition to SBC, AAC and aptX, aptX HD and LDAC are also supported, which means signal transmission up to 24 bits and 96 kHz.
