Danish brand Aavik has expanded its flagship 880 series of top-end electronic components with the introduction of the Aavik SD-880 external DAC and network player . The new product was the first such device in the brand’s range and was the result of collaboration between the outstanding audio engineer Michael Børresen and designer Flemming Erik Rasmussen.
Based on Aavik’s ongoing commitment to the most authentic music reproduction and pursuit of excellence, the Aavik SD-880 is designed to eliminate the obtrusive digital veil in music playback, minimize noise and increase the detail of the soundscape.
The Aavik SD-880 is based on a new revolutionary DAC with proprietary Non-switching Continuum Processing technology combined with Aavik’s most advanced network streaming technology, noise reduction technologies and innovative housing design. The Aavik SD-880 is a testament to what is achievable in lifelike music reproduction, free of the notorious “digital veil” that often characterizes digital music sources.
Michael Borresen and his team of audio engineers have developed an innovative and highly effective technology to eliminate this problem: the innovative Aavik DAC with non-switchable continuous processing. This solution is based on a method in which the digital signal is converted to a frequency of 22 MHz and only then converted to an analog signal, maintaining a continuous waveform without the need to resort to switching fabrics. The result of this transformation is a wealth of musical information that creates the extraordinary musical character of all Aavik components in the flagship 880 series.
