Japanese headphone manufacturer Final has introduced two new flagship models, the Final D8000 DC and Final D8000 DC Pro. These headphones are equipped with magnetostatic drivers and showcase an entirely new design, focusing on enhanced precision, transparency, and listening comfort.
Final D8000 DC: Air Film Damping System
At the heart of the D8000 DC and D8000 DC Pro is Final’s advanced Air Film Damping System (AFDS), a patented technology originally developed to enhance bass response and eliminate distortion. The latest iteration refines every element of the acoustic system, including redesigned metal mesh patterns and an ultra-light diaphragm made from etched aluminum foil. These innovations deliver deep, distortion-free bass, organic sound imaging and high-frequency detail, redefining the performance of magnetostatic drivers.
Final’s dedication to precision is evident in the D8000 DC series, which is produced at Kawasaki’s headquarters, according to the designers. By using in-house developed tools such as diaphragm forming machines and custom measuring instruments, Final ensures consistency and quality. The headphones are lightweight yet sturdy and feature breathable Japanese washi paper ear pads, which should provide both durability and comfort.
The D8000 DC and DC Pro cater to different listening preferences. The D8000 DC offers a balanced tuning that suits both audiophiles and professional users, while the DC Pro model enhances bass response for listeners who enjoy louder volumes.
Both models come with two detachable cables (4.4mm jack and 4-pin XLR), with the DC Pro featuring a premium silver-braided cable for superior signal transfer.
The shipping is said to start later this month. The suggested retail price of the Final D8000 DC is just under $4,300. The Final D8000 DC Pro will go over the counter for just under $4,800.
