Lumin Music, based in Hong Kong, has utilized its existing T3 network player as the foundation for the new T3X model. A key enhancement of the T3X is its incorporation of a linear power supply featuring a substantial toroidal transformer. Additionally, the T3X includes a second USB-A port and offers both an RJ45 LAN connection and a fiber optic connection. The design of the housing remains consistent with Lumin’s established aesthetic.
While switching power supplies are known for their efficiency and ability to produce high-quality results, many audiophiles and music enthusiasts express a preference for devices equipped with linear power supplies. In response to this demand, Lumin has introduced the T3X, which replaces the previous switching power supply with a linear alternative.
The new fiber optic network connection offers complete galvanic isolation of the network. Fiber optic cables can pick up and transmit absolutely no electrical noise. The RJ45 LAN connection for UTP cables from the original T3 has been retained. This offers the possibility to use the T3X as a network switch. One connection can be used for connecting to a router and the other for connecting to a Lumin L1/L2 or NAS. Another major improvement is the placement of a second USB-A port. The dual ES9028Pro SABRE DAC chips with dual-mono operation have been retained.
