Phasamation, a premium audio equipment manufacturer located in Yokohama, Japan, is set to launch the CM-1500 hybrid preamplifier in the European market. The “CM” in its name stands for “Control Meister,” reflecting the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional control and audio performance.

In contrast to traditional preamplifiers that utilize active circuitry, the CM-1500 stands out by completely eliminating active components from its signal path. It features a hybrid signal attenuation technology that ensures high fidelity while optimizing impedance characteristics. With a high input impedance of 47KΩ and a low output impedance of 250Ω, this unit integrates effortlessly into various audio systems while maintaining signal integrity.

A notable aspect of the CM-1500’s design is its balanced attenuation transformer, which consists of two distinct windings. This setup enhances frequency response, minimizes phase distortion, and delivers a clearer sound reproduction. The balanced attenuator provides a gain of +6 dB, and the preamplifier offers three selectable gain options: +6 dB, 0 dB, and -10 dB. Furthermore, users can choose from 23 discrete level adjustments, ranging from 0 dB to -50 dB, enabling precise volume control.

Connectivity options feature three unbalanced RCA line inputs and two balanced XLR inputs, offering versatility for various audio sources. On the output side, the CM-1500 provides both RCA and XLR connections, allowing for simultaneous output. This capability enhances its adaptability, making the unit ideal for intricate audio setups. The XLR connectors, produced by Neutrik, are gold-plated to guarantee dependable connections and reduce signal loss.

The transformer core is made from ultra-thin Super Malloy, with a thickness of only 0.1 mm. This material is recognized for its outstanding magnetic characteristics, which contribute to enhanced sound quality. Furthermore, the winding wire utilizes Pure Copper-Continuous Crystal Construction (PC-Triple C), a conductor esteemed in audio applications for its remarkable low-level signal transmission and linearity.

The chassis of the CM-1500 is designed with both durability and performance in mind. The front panel is constructed from 10 mm thick aluminum, while the rest of the enclosure consists of 1.6 mm thick copper-plated steel. A specialized low-dielectric coating is applied to the top cover to further enhance performance. To reduce interference and unwanted resonances, specific areas of the unit feature magnetic shielding, and the feet are designed with anti-vibration properties to improve stability.

With its precise engineering and thoughtful design, the CM-1500 is a highly versatile component that can seamlessly integrate into nearly any audio system. Its combination of passive signal attenuation, high-quality materials, and flexible connectivity ensures it meets the expectations of discerning audiophiles seeking a premium preamplifier.
