Cassette tapes are back in style, and even young people are enjoying them. We Are Rewind previously launched a Walkman-style cassette player and now presents the Curtis GB-001, a ghetto blaster with a vintage look but equipped with modern technology like Class D amplification. And fun, dancing VU meters complete the picture.

The latest iPhone is sooooo boring. Turn heads now with the Curtis GB-001 Boombox from We Are Rewind . Described as a cassette player/recorder that can rival home speaker systems, the GB-001’s designers promise exceptional stereo sound with full-spectrum stereo imaging thanks to its two-way speaker system for each channel.
While the classic boombox of the 1980s could only play cassettes (and often record them as well), the Curtis GB-001 features a wired AUX input and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. This allows the user to use their oh-so-boring smartphone to wirelessly send music files to the Curtis GB-001. A headphone jack is also included.
Each driver has its own Class D amplifier. According to the manufacturer, a total of 104 watts of power is available. The specified frequency range is from 40 Hz to 20 kHz. The cassette player is limited to a maximum of 12.5 kHz.
This modern ghetto blaster also boasts features such as a rechargeable battery that can be easily replaced by the user later if necessary, dynamic power control to reduce distortion, refined equalizer for a natural soundstage and a spatializer function for a wider, more immersive stereo image.
According to the manufacturer, the Curtis GB-001 features a top-quality cassette drive, complete with a powerful, user-adjustable motor with internal speed control. Furthermore, the Curtis GB-001 supports playback of both Type I and Type II (chrome) cassettes with optimized biasing.
The two illuminated VU meters complete the package and also serve a function: controlling playback and recording levels. The microphone input has an adjustable level for live recording.
The Curtis GB-001 Boombox weighs 6.8 kilograms and measures 50.6 x 25.1 x 17.9 centimeters, including carrying handle.
