The designers say the Lynx is an example of Rockport’s emphasis on full-range speakers that deliver exceptional musical performance while maintaining a homely and friendly footprint. Andrew Payor, founder and director of technology at Rockport, states: “The Lynx is unparalleled in its ability to convey the majesty of music from such a surprisingly compact enclosure. The Lynx marks the first time we’ve been able to trickle down technology from our flagship Lyra into a speaker that fits comfortably in any home. As with the Lyra, the fundamental absence of cabinet-induced noise has a profound effect on the Lynx’s musical presentation, delivering an incredibly low noise floor, unparalleled dynamic contrasts and astonishing low-level information retrieval. Like the Lyra, the Lynx’s new DAMSTIF3 housing has no joinery, no fasteners, and simultaneously achieves the multiple goals of maximum damping, stiffness and mass.”

With a ‘form follows function’ design approach that includes distinctive and functional enclosure designs, the Rockport Lynx features a new DAMSTIF3 enclosure formed from a single solid aluminum casting. The drivers of the Lynx are copied from the Lyra. The Lynx features a custom ten-inch carbon fiber sandwich cone woofer, a six-inch carbon fiber sandwich cone midrange, and a one-inch waveguide-loaded beryllium tweeter.

The Lynx’s driver array is designed to deliver an authoritative first octave bass response with abundant reserve and speed, a transparent midrange, bringing out densely saturated tonal color and texture, with a crystalline pure, dynamically realistic high-frequency register. the designers about the Lynx.

The Lynx was on display at High End Munich, along with an example of the one-piece raw aluminum casting used to make the case. Price and delivery information have yet to be announced.
