Opera Prima V2 and Quinta V2: Upgraded speakers from Italy

Opera Prima V2 and Quinta V2
Opera Prima V2 and Quinta V2

Italian loudspeaker manufacturer Opera Audio has updated its Prima and Quinta models. The revised versions now feature “V2” in their names and, as stated by the designers, incorporate essential optical and technical advancements. The speakers are available in both gray and walnut finishes.

Opera Prima V2: compact two-way monitor speaker

The initial Opera Prima, launched in 2015, featured drivers arranged asymmetrically and a front-facing bass reflex output. The asymmetrical arrangement has been removed, and the bass port has been relocated to the rear.

The woofer/midrange driver features an aluminum cone measuring 180 millimeters in diameter, powered by a ferrite magnet. Above 2.5 kHz, a soft dome tweeter equipped with a dual ferrite magnet handles sound reproduction. In comparison to the earlier model, the sensitivity has decreased slightly to 90 dB (1 Watt/1 meter), down from 91 dB. Additionally, the housing design has seen substantial enhancements, resulting in a notable increase in weight to 14 kilograms, up from the previous 9.5 kilograms.

Opera Quinta V2: three-way floorstanding loudspeaker

The Quinta has undergone significant changes, particularly in its driver configuration. The updated Opera Quinta V2 remains a three-way system, now featuring two 180-millimeter woofers for bass reproduction. The midrange driver measures 150 millimeters and operates from 250 Hz. High frequencies are managed by a 26-millimeter soft dome tweeter, which begins at 2.3 kHz. The new Quinta V2 boasts a sensitivity rating of 91 dB (1 Watt / 1 meter), similar to the monitor model, allowing it to function effectively without the need for a high-powered amplifier. Bass response initiates at 42 Hz with a -3 dB level.

Both models are equipped with a single connection and are offered in mottled grey and walnut finishes. Pricing information indicates that the Opera Prima V2 is listed at approximately $2,899 on a German website, while the Opera Quinta V2 is priced just below $6,000.
