Japanese brand Denon has unveiled the Denon AVR – S 270 BT 5.1 AV receiver , designed for those looking to enter the world of home theater on a budget. The manufacturer has strived to create a simple and accessible device to appeal to the widest possible audience, especially those considering soundbars.
The new Denon AVR – S 270 BT is an entry-level multichannel AV receiver, ideal for those looking to start building a home theater system without breaking the bank. However, you’ll have to forego Dolby Atmos, as it’s a 5.1 receiver, and there simply aren’t enough amplifiers for the in-ceiling channels. However, the new model supports Dolby Digital, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master Audio. Additionally, for stereo sources, it supports Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS Neo:6 upmixing technologies, enabling 5.1 surround sound.
The Denon AVR-S270BT AV receiver delivers up to 70 watts of power per channel into each of its five channels when driven into a nominal 8 ohm load (20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD), or 90 watts per channel into 6 ohms (1 kHz, 0.7%) when driving two channels simultaneously, so actual power will be lower when driving all five (as is usually the case).
The Denon AVR-S270BT’s connectivity includes five HDMI inputs, three of which are compatible with 4K UHD and two with support for up to 1080p. It also supports HDR and HLG high-dynamic-range video. In addition to HDMI ports, the Denon AVR-S270BT has two analog line-level inputs and one RCA output, as well as a powered subwoofer output. It also has two optical Toslink digital ports and an AM and FM antenna jack. Bluetooth wireless connectivity completes the set, allowing you to stream music from your smartphone or tablet. However, you won’t be able to connect to a computer network, as there’s no Wi-Fi or Ethernet port.
The Denon AVR – S 270 BT AV receiver is now available in the US with a suggested retail price of $399 .
