Sennheiser has announced new wireless over-ear headphones called the HDB 630. The new headphones are the new flagship of Sennheiser’s wireless headphone lineup and aim to take things up a notch from the Momentum 4. The HDB 630 combines Japanese protein leather and 42mm drivers with a parametric equalizer, active noise cancellation, and the aptX Adaptive audio codec for enjoying high-resolution music.

The Sennheiser HDB 630 over-ear headphones are designed for music lovers who want to process high-resolution music signals. Comfort has also been considered, as the HDB 630 not only features 42mm drivers but also ear cushions made of Japanese protein leather. The earcups are mounted in a frame derived from the company’s Momentum 4 headphones.

Users can fine-tune the sound reproduction with Sennheiser’s Smart Control Plus app, which features a parametric equalizer. The Crossfeed function allows the music signal from the drivers to be mixed more or less to reduce the sometimes extreme stereo effect and achieve a sound reproduction that more closely resembles two speakers in a room. External noise is blocked out with adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), with a transparency mode for conversations.

The HDB 630 can connect to audio sources via wired 3.5 mm and USB-C cables, or via Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connections. The headphones come with a BDT 700 USB Type-C dongle transmitter that supports aptX Adaptive for use with phones that don’t support this format (such as Apple iOS). The headphones have a rated battery life of 60 hours and can be extended by another 7 hours with a 10-minute quick charge, according to Sennheiser.

The wireless audio codec supports dynamic adjustment of audio delay and quality, with delays of up to 80 msec and audio quality up to 24-bit, 96 kHz at 420 kbps. No details have been released about whether the headphones can handle the even higher quality LDAC codec supported by modern Android phones.
