Audio-Technica today announced the ATH-ADX7000 True Open-Air headphones, the latest flagship model in the Japanese brand’s ADX product line. Designed and manufactured entirely in Japan, the new ATH-ADX7000 headphones are, according to the manufacturer, the result of over sixty years of transducer design expertise, utilizing Audio-Technica’s patented High-Concentricity X(Transfer) Dynamic Transducer (HXDT) technology.
Audio-Technica ATH-ADX7000: exceptional precision

The innovative manufacturing process of these advanced drivers ensures exceptional precision at every stage of production, from the initial design and specification of components to the final integration of the drivers into the headphones, delivering pure and natural sound reproduction. Unlike closed-back or semi-open-back headphones, the ADX7000’s open-back design allows air to flow freely through the driver housing, reducing internal pressure and resonance. This creates a clearer, more natural, and less fatiguing listening experience, even after many hours of listening.
The specialized drivers are designed for outdoor use to reproduce the full frequency range of audio, including deep bass normally reserved for closed-back headphones. Audio-Technica says the new headphones achieve this without adding any coloration. The result, they say, is an authentic and spacious sound that brings listeners closer to the original source.
Audio-Technica ATH-ADX7000: HXDT Dynamic Transducer Technology

At the heart of the ATH-ADX7000 headphones is Audio-Technica’s HXDT technology. This technology uses a highly controlled molding and alignment method to ensure that every diaphragm, baffle, magnet, and voice coil is perfectly concentric. The manufacturing process achieves tolerances of up to ±0.02 millimeters, nearly ten times more precise than most conventional designs.
The extremely precise alignment of all components allows the diaphragm to move freely and consistently. This results in faster transients and enhanced micro-detailing, ultimately resulting in a cleaner and more natural sound. By optimizing energy transfer from the magnet via the voice coil to the diaphragm, the HXDT drivers deliver a more accurate, dynamic, and detailed sound.
Audio-Technica ATH-ADX7000: extended dynamic range

The driver’s improved voice coil—with an increased impedance of 490 ohms—improves mechanical strength without adding weight. Audio-Technica claims this results in better-defined low frequencies, greater dynamic range, and full-spectrum clarity. The precise alignment of each component is essential to the ADX7000’s sonic identity, and Audio-Technica says this is the secret to unlocking the full potential of True Open-Air headphones.
The ATH-ADX7000 headphones are manufactured in Japan and come with various accessories, including a nylon-wound, balanced XLR cable and a nylon-wound, unbalanced cable with a 6.35mm gold-plated jack plug. Both cables feature Neutrik connectors and A2DC connectors with gold-plated tips. A compact carrying case is included for easy transport.
