Established in 1991, Pro-Ject transformed the consumer electronics landscape by launching an affordable belt drive turntable, the Pro-Ject 1, which played a significant role in the resurgence of vinyl records.

In the late 1990s, Pro-Ject introduced another innovative concept that significantly impacted the audio industry: the compact devices known as Box Design.

Advancements in modern components and technology have enabled Pro-Ject to minimize the chassis size, resulting in high-quality audio electronics offered at remarkably low prices.

The first product in the Box Design series was the Phono Box, a phono stage, followed by a range of other devices including DACs, headphone amplifiers, CD players, and primarily amplifiers.

The “Stereo Box” marked Pro-Ject’s first micro-integrated stereo amplifier, utilizing a Japanese amplifier unit called the Flying Mole, which delivered a warm sound reminiscent of tube amplifiers.

Subsequently, the company launched the slightly larger MAIA integrated amplifier, which now features Bluetooth modules, a DAC, a phono stage, and more, all while maintaining a compact form factor.

Throughout the years, Pro-Ject has consistently sought to lower the cost of the MAIA, ensuring that an affordable amplifier remains available in the market.

The next product to consider is the Stereo Box E, an integrated amplifier that approaches the performance of the MaiA but is significantly more affordable. Priced at $300, it features both a DAC and a phono stage.

Additionally, the Stereo Box E includes a remote control, known as the Control it 1. The amplifier is equipped with three analog inputs and three digital inputs (two optical and one coaxial), a subwoofer output, gold-plated connectors, and a motorized analog potentiometer for volume control, which can be adjusted remotely.

The Stereo Box E amplifier delivers a power output of 2x21W at both 4Ω and 8Ω (with 1% THD). It features Bluetooth connectivity that supports aptX HD, and the speaker terminals are compatible with 4mm banana plugs, fork connectors, and bare wire.

This compact all-in-one amplifier measures 206x51x186 mm and weighs 2 kg, with external power supply requirements.

The front panel and sliders are crafted from aluminum, available in both black and silver finishes.

For those looking to create a cohesive audio system, Pro-Ject has also introduced a CD player (the CD Box E) and an FM/DAB+ radio (the Tuner Box S3) that match the size and design of the amplifier.
