Audio-GD MASTER-2A: Power amplifier in dual mono form factor

Audio-GD MASTER-2A
Audio-GD MASTER-2A

Once again Audio-GD has created a new technological masterpiece in the field of audio amplifiers. This MASTER-2A dual mono amplifier has a particularly well-thought-out architecture and impressive power reserves, without sacrificing anything in terms of audio fidelity.

Audio-GD MASTER-2A

The iconic brand once again uses its formidable HE-2 type output stage, this time with clean Class A integration from end to end. This circuit renews ingenuity in its most advanced form with extraordinary performance and deep, detailed sound. Each of the two monoblocks is capable of delivering up to 300 W of power into a 4 ohm load, which is more than enough to sonorize a huge listening room.

Audio-GD MASTER-2A

Every product from the brand is meticulously tested from every angle using one of the most efficient systems in the world: Audio Analyzers 2700 Series from Audio Precision.

Audio-GD MASTER-2A

Audio GD’s MASTER-2A consists of 2 separate units and has a total of 4 analog inputs: 2x XLR and 2x ACSS. The outputs are, of course, routed to 2 speaker terminals and require nothing more than connecting your speakers to get the entire installation ready.

Audio-GD MASTER-2A

A button on the back cover instantly switches from XLR input to ACSS input and allows the user to select a source directly on the device.

This MASTER-2A is equipped with no less than 4 transformers, including 2 R-Cores with a total power of 1800 W, 260.000uF very high quality Nover capacitors and 80 very high performance MJL1302 / 3281 transistors for the output stage.

This amplifier is also designed around a pure discrete balanced input stage and Class A amplifier stage, with separate Class A supplies for the left and right channels and no capacitors or feedback in the signal path.

The output transistors operate with a high quiescent current. The “Diamond Cross” output stage avoids crossover distortion while enjoying all the qualities and unique transmission of Class A sound.

Audiophile-grade components including DALE resistors, WIMA capacitors and NOVER electrolytics.

Audio-GD has its own technology signature called ACSS for “Audio-GD Current Signal System”.

This technology makes the input stage simpler and more direct, reducing distortion.

Thanks to the company’s experience and know-how, this technology provides less colored sound, more detail and unrivaled neutrality.

The peculiarity of class A is that its active components are always in a state of conduction. The quiescent current remains higher than the output current, which limits harmonic distortion. Therefore, the signal coming out of the Master 2A is of excellent quality due to the absence of the famous sine wave crossover distortion.

In case of instability in the electrical network, the supply voltage may change and cause vibrations in the toroidal transformers. This can dramatically degrade the sonic performance of an amplifier with such a power stage. To combat this phenomenon, the Master 2A amplifier is equipped with a DC input filter that can absorb up to 1.2V of these voltage fluctuations and effectively suppress any interference coming from the electrical network.
