Skyanalog has introduced the P-1GC, a new MC cartridge developed based on the renowned P-1G platform. This cartridge now features a zirconia cantilever and the Skyliptical stylus developed in-house by the company.
The new model follows the Skyanalog P-1G MC element (MC = Moving Coil), which is praised for delivering serious analog performance at a relatively affordable price. The P-1GC appears to build upon that foundation rather than completely replacing it, refining the mechanical package around the company's Yan Suspension system.

The most notable technical change is the switch to a zirconia-ceramic cantilever. Skyanalog states that this material was chosen due to the combination of stiffness and internal damping, with the aim of suppressing unwanted mechanical resonance while simultaneously preserving detail and tonal coherence. The cantilever material, the stylus profile, and the behavior of the suspension all play a direct role in how a cartridge tracks the groove and manages energy before that movement reaches the coil system.
Central to the P-1GC is Skyanalog's new Skyliptical stylus, a patented solid diamond design integrated into the cartridge rather than being offered as a separate upgrade product, at least for the time being. Skyanalog describes it as their first design with a solid diamond stylus. The stylus utilizes what they call AI-optimized geometry, intended to evolve the traditional elliptical profile with a larger contact area in the groove and more efficient mechanical transcription.

According to Skyanalog, the one-piece diamond structure is designed to maximize stiffness, improve signal integrity, and support better detail reproduction, wider spatial definition, and stronger clarity in the high-frequency range. The company also claims improved tracking under demanding conditions in the grooves, along with a sharper image and better channel separation.
Skyanalog presents the P-1GC in terms of sound quality as a more refined and open-sounding evolution of the P-1G, with an emphasis on natural transparency, controlled energy transfer, tonal density, and long-term listening comfort.
The P-1GC will soon be available for just under $600.
