Volumio has expanded its audio accessory range with the Lineo 5 Duo, a linear power supply designed to operate two compatible components at the same time. Each of its independently regulated outputs supplies 5V and up to 4A, allowing the unit to support pairings such as Volumio’s Rivo Plus network player and Preciso digital-to-analog converter.
Two independently regulated power outputs
The Lineo 5 Duo develops the concept of Volumio’s earlier Lineo 5, which was intended to power a single device. The new model adds a second output while retaining separate regulation and filtering for each connected component.
This independent architecture is intended to minimize interference passing between devices through a shared power supply. Each output provides 5V with up to 4A available, although users will still need to confirm the voltage, current and connection requirements of any equipment before use.
Combining two outputs in one chassis can also simplify a desktop or rack-based digital audio system. Instead of relying on two external power adapters, compatible components can be served by one Lineo 5 Duo, reducing the number of separate power-supply enclosures and associated mains cables.
Linear design targets electrical interference
At the center of the Lineo 5 Duo is a generously sized toroidal transformer. Volumio pairs it with capacitors selected specifically for audio applications, forming a linear supply intended as an alternative to the external switch-mode adapters commonly provided with compact digital audio products.
The design’s principal objective is to reduce electrical interference that could affect signal processing inside sensitive audio electronics. Rather than sharing one regulation stage between both outputs, the Lineo 5 Duo applies dedicated regulation and filtering to each power connection.
Volumio has not presented the unit as a universal supply for all low-voltage equipment. Its fixed 5V output means compatibility depends on the requirements of the connected product, and the maximum current rating is specified separately for each output.
Aluminum chassis provides cooling and stability
The power supply is housed in aluminum, a non-magnetic material chosen to provide mechanical stability. Integrated cooling fins are incorporated into the enclosure to assist with heat dissipation from the linear power circuitry.
The single-chassis arrangement is also intended to keep installations more orderly. For systems built around two suitable low-voltage components, the Lineo 5 Duo consolidates their external power provision without combining the output regulation itself.
Designed for Volumio components and other 5V hardware
Volumio positions the Lineo 5 Duo primarily as a companion for the Rivo Plus and Preciso. The Rivo Plus is the company’s network player, while the Preciso handles digital-to-analog conversion, making the two products a natural pairing for the supply’s dual-output configuration.
The Lineo 5 Duo is not limited to those two Volumio models. Its independently regulated outputs can also be used with other suitable electronics requiring 5V power, provided their electrical and connection specifications are compatible. No USD price was announced.
With two separately regulated 5V outputs in one aluminum enclosure, the Lineo 5 Duo gives Volumio users a purpose-built way to power the Rivo Plus and Preciso together while also supporting other compatible audio electronics.
