Rotel has returned to the loudspeaker market after an absence of more than 25 years. The new Amora 5 is a passive two-way monitor built around custom-designed drivers, an MDF bass-reflex cabinet and a crossover developed specifically for the system. It will be offered in matte black and matte white finishes.
A compact two-way design
The Amora 5 has been developed as a conventional passive stereo speaker rather than an active or wireless model. Rotel specifies a frequency range of 48 Hz to 28 kHz and a sensitivity of 87 dB measured at 2.83 volts over one meter.
According to Rotel, the design is intended to deliver a broad, open stereo image while maintaining low distortion and high resolution. Although the speaker has been created to complement the company’s own amplifiers and source components, it is also designed for use with amplification from other manufacturers.
The cabinet measures 350 × 190 × 300 mm, making the Amora 5 suitable for placement on appropriately sized speaker stands or furniture where its rear-facing port has adequate clearance. Rotel has not specified an amplifier power recommendation or nominal impedance in the supplied product information.
Custom tweeter and mid-bass driver
High frequencies are handled by a 25 mm silk-dome tweeter. The driver is secured within an aluminum mounting ring, while a geometrically shaped ABS front plate is used to reduce diffraction and provide a smoother transition to the cabinet’s front baffle.
A 165 mm mid-bass driver covers the lower portion of the speaker’s operating range. Its cone is made from a woven fiber composite and is supported by a rigid aluminum frame. Rotel says this construction provides mechanical stability, maintains correct driver alignment and helps limit structural vibration.
The two drive units are integrated by a custom crossover operating at 2.5 kHz. Its role is to coordinate the tweeter and mid-bass unit for a balanced frequency response and controlled dispersion across the crossover region.

MDF cabinet with rear bass-reflex port
Rotel has constructed the Amora 5 enclosure from MDF to create a stable mounting platform for the drivers and reduce unwanted cabinet resonance. Low-frequency output is supported by a bass-reflex port positioned on the rear panel.
The port is tuned to extend the specified low-frequency response to 48 Hz while retaining controlled bass behavior. As with other rear-ported speakers, final positioning will determine the amount of space available behind the enclosure, although Rotel has not published specific placement distances.
A removable grille made from acoustically transparent material is included. Magnetic attachment points allow the grille to be fitted without visible mounting hardware on the front baffle, and owners can remove it without tools.

Single-wire and bi-wire connectivity
The rear connection panel carries two sets of gold-plated speaker terminals. This arrangement supports a standard single-wire connection as well as bi-wiring for systems configured to use separate cable runs for the speaker’s frequency sections.
The Amora 5 requires an external power amplifier or integrated amplifier, as no onboard amplification, digital input or wireless functionality is included. That straightforward architecture positions it as a traditional passive monitor for two-channel hi-fi systems.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin during the product’s launch month. Buyers will be able to choose between matte black and matte white cabinet finishes.
With the Amora 5, Rotel is re-entering loudspeaker production through a focused passive design rather than a networked or powered model. Its custom two-way driver system, rear-ported MDF enclosure and dual terminal sets make it a natural companion for Rotel electronics while preserving compatibility with conventional hi-fi amplifiers from other brands.
