Block Opus S and Opus L Combine Active Three-Way Audio With a Circular Display

The Block Opus S and Opus L are active three-way wireless speakers built around a distinctive 19-inch circular display, integrated streaming and app control.

Block Audio has introduced the Opus S and Opus L, two active three-way wireless speakers distinguished by a centrally mounted 19-inch circular LCD. The two models share the same streaming and display concept but differ in cabinet size, amplification and driver power allocation.

A 19-inch display at the center of the design

The circular LCD is a defining element of both Opus speakers rather than a small status panel. It can show song lyrics, photographs and video, while screen mirroring allows compatible smartphone content to appear on the integrated display.

This gives the Opus S and Opus L a visual role alongside music playback. Owners can use the screen for media connected from a mobile device or display personal photographs and videos when the speaker is not being used solely for audio. Its central position makes the display an integral part of the rounded cabinet design.

Both versions use an active three-way configuration. Their built-in amplifiers provide dedicated power for a 10-inch woofer, two 4-inch midrange drivers and two 2-inch tweeters. The main differences between the models are the amplifier output assigned to those drivers and the overall cabinet dimensions.

Opus L delivers 220 watts of total power

The Opus L is the larger and more powerful model in the range. Its 10-inch woofer is driven by 120 watts, while each of the two 4-inch midrange drivers receives 30 watts. Two 2-inch tweeters are powered by 20 watts apiece, producing a stated total output of 220 watts.

Block gives the Opus L dimensions of 730 x 900 x 260 millimeters and an approximate weight of 21 kilograms. Those figures make it the more substantial of the two designs, intended for buyers who have the room for the larger enclosure and want the higher amplifier output.

Opus S offers the same concept in a smaller cabinet

The Opus S retains the same driver arrangement and 19-inch LCD but reduces both cabinet size and total amplification. Its 10-inch woofer is powered by a 100-watt amplifier. Each 4-inch midrange driver receives 25 watts, while the two 2-inch tweeters are allocated 10 watts each. Total output is rated at 170 watts.

Measuring 630 x 820 x 220 millimeters and weighing approximately 18 kilograms, the Opus S is more compact than the Opus L without abandoning the range’s distinctive visual format or three-way active architecture. The difference between the models therefore comes down primarily to scale and power rather than core functionality.

Streaming, app control and planned stereo pairing

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.4 are included on both models, with control handled through the HiSounds app for Apple iOS and Google Android devices. The speakers are also DLNA-certified streaming clients and support UPnP, allowing access to locally stored music on a computer or network-attached storage device.

Integrated online options include internet radio through the vTuner protocol, along with Spotify Connect, Amazon Music and Deezer. A mobile device can connect over Bluetooth for audio playback or use screen mirroring when visual content is required on the circular LCD.

Multiroom operation is based on the UNDOK protocol. Block has also announced a future True Wireless Stereo pairing function that will allow two identical Opus speakers to operate as a stereo pair. Pairing will be limited to a maximum of two matching units, meaning two Opus S speakers or two Opus L speakers rather than a mixed-model combination.

The Opus S is listed in black and champagne finishes. Numerical pricing has been omitted because no USD price was provided for either model.

With the Opus S and Opus L, Block Audio combines active three-way speaker engineering with an unusually prominent visual interface. Buyers can choose between the smaller 170-watt Opus S and the larger 220-watt Opus L while retaining the same display, streaming services, wireless connectivity and app-based control.
