Esoteric has introduced the T-01, a substantial new turntable that carries key engineering concepts from the flagship Grandioso T1 into a smaller, more straightforward installation. Its defining features include contactless magnetic induction drive, magnetic assistance for the platter bearing, an external power supply and compatibility with a 10 MHz reference clock.
Contactless MagneDrive motor system
Rather than using a belt or a conventional direct-drive arrangement, the T-01 employs Esoteric’s patented MagneDrive system. A dome-shaped magnetic driver with alternating north and south poles is mounted to the motor, while a soft-iron induction wheel runs around the lower edge of the non-magnetic aluminum platter.
As the magnetic driver rotates beside the induction wheel, magnetic induction causes the platter to turn without physical contact between it and the drive assembly. The design is intended to prevent motor vibration from being transmitted directly to the platter while retaining the torque and speed control required for record playback.
Esoteric says the technology took more than five years to develop and commercialize. The contactless architecture also eliminates the drive belt found in many turntables, so there is no belt to tension or replace. The motor is integrated into the T-01’s main chassis and installed inside what Esoteric describes as a vibration-absorbing enclosure, unlike the separate motor assembly used by the larger Grandioso T1.

Magne-Float supports a 13-kilogram platter
The aluminum platter weighs 13 kilograms, but its full mass is not placed on the spindle bearing. Esoteric’s Magne-Float system uses opposing magnetic force to reduce the effective bearing load to approximately 4 kilograms.
This is magnetic assistance rather than complete levitation. The T-01 continues to use an inverted bearing, with the magnetic system reducing the mechanical load placed upon it. Esoteric’s objective is to lower bearing friction and suppress mechanically generated rumble.
Although positioned as a more compact alternative to the Grandioso T1, the T-01 remains a very heavy component. The turntable weighs 35 kilograms with its platter installed, while the separate power supply adds another 7 kilograms. Its chassis combines three layers of aluminum and MDF, with a piano-lacquer finish applied to the middle layer. Each supporting foot integrates a spike, spike receiver and damper as part of the isolation structure.

Speed control and 10 MHz clock synchronization
Motor management is handled by Esoteric’s Master Sound Discrete Clock control module. The T-01 also includes a 50-ohm BNC input for an external 10 MHz reference signal, allowing synchronization with the company’s G-01XD or G-05 master clocks.
The clock input extends Esoteric’s system-wide timing architecture to analog playback, complementing its use in the company’s digital components. It is an optional capability, as the turntable includes its own internal motor control.
The T-01 supports 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records. Speed can be adjusted across a range of plus or minus 12 percent in 0.1 percent increments, providing considerably more flexibility than basic fine-speed trimming. Esoteric specifies wow and flutter at no more than 0.06 percent WRMS.

Tonearm options and expected availability
Up to two tonearms can be installed on the T-01. Esoteric offers different mounting bases to accommodate a broad selection of third-party tonearms, giving owners scope to configure the deck around their preferred arm and cartridge combinations.
The turntable will be offered without a tonearm, while a package incorporating the TA-9S tonearm is also planned. A phono cartridge is not included and must be sourced separately from another manufacturer.
Deliveries are expected to begin in late September. The T-01 sits below the Grandioso T1 in Esoteric’s turntable range, but its high-mass construction, external power supply, magnetic drive technology and clock connectivity keep it firmly within the company’s upper-tier analog lineup.
With the T-01, Esoteric has retained the Grandioso T1’s central magnetic-drive ideas while integrating the motor and reducing the overall scale. It remains a formidable turntable, particularly for systems that can take advantage of two tonearms or Esoteric’s external clock ecosystem.
