The Mediterraneo vinyl record player from the Italian manufacturer Gold Note has an original design. Appearance and design are the first things its creators pay attention to. The Mediterraneo model is equipped with a three-layer base. The lower part is 60 mm thick and made of solid walnut or olive. Then comes a sheet of steel 3 mm thick. Additional rigidity is provided by contact of the bottom layer with the middle layer at 18 points. The top (third) layer is made of polished black acrylic.
According to Gold Note, trees that are at least 50 years old are used to create turntable cases. The wood is dried over several years. The shape of The Mediterraneo base is made in such a way that its properties are comparable to those of a table several times larger.
The innovative motor power system includes an AC-DC-AC alternating current regenerator that absolutely precisely “sews together” half-waves, which gives quiet and smooth rotation of the motor spindle and, as a result, disappearing small rumble and uneven rotation of the disk. The engine’s new, perfectly polished, hourglass-shaped pulley also works to reduce detonation.
The Gold Note Mediterraneo motor, according to the company, operates extremely smoothly and quietly. The 80mm long bearing is the same as the Bellagio Reference and is positioned as the company’s best bearing. The height of the disc is 45 mm, it is made of a special hard material designed to eliminate all resonances. Three spikes were used as legs. The player is equipped with a bearing branded tonearm B-5.1 and a cover.
