Marten Unveils Coltrane Supreme and Quintet Extreme: Ultra-Luxury Loudspeakers

Swedish loudspeaker manufacturer Marten has unveiled two impressive loudspeakers at the High End audio show in Munich: the Coltrane Supreme Extreme and Coltrane Quintet Extreme. While they showcase exceptional technical prowess, they also come with a hefty price tag, falling into the category of ‘if you have to inquire about the price, you likely can’t afford it.’ Marten takes pride in presenting these two outstanding additions to their flagship Coltrane series, which are the culmination of a collaborative effort between their design and engineering teams. These models exemplify Marten’s expertise, merging extensive material knowledge, innovative component design, and a meticulous craftsmanship approach. Years of dedicated development have gone into these products, which are carefully manufactured in their Swedish factory.

Marten Coltrane Quintet Extreme: Limited Edition

20250515214122 2025 05

The Coltrane Quintet Extreme encapsulates the spirit of the Coltrane Supreme Extreme in a more compact four-way configuration. This model, available for a comprehensive demonstration, incorporates much of the innovative technology found in the classic Coltrane design. It features essential components such as diamond and beryllium drivers, Jorma Paragon wiring, and a precision first-order crossover. The cabinet is engineered for superior resonance control, offering tonal balance, impact, and detail that create a rich, immersive listening experience. With its exclusive Piano Oak Green finish and a limited production of just ten pairs globally, the Coltrane Quintet Extreme exemplifies a blend of elegance, precision, and power. The cabinet is made from carbon fiber laminate combined with a sandwich panel of aluminum, fiberboard, and solid wood, designed to reduce resonance while preserving time and phase accuracy. Internally, it employs Jorma Paragon cabling and a proprietary first-order crossover built with custom components, ensuring a natural response and tonal integrity across the audio spectrum. The performance is remarkable, featuring fast, controlled bass, an expressive midrange, and effortless highs.

The driver configuration mirrors that of the flagship model, including a 3-inch pure diamond high-midrange driver, a 1-inch pure diamond tweeter, and a 7-inch beryllium midrange, resulting in a broad soundstage with lifelike dynamics, complemented by two 10-inch aluminum sandwich bass units for a robust low end. Finished in Piano Oak Green, the Coltrane Quintet Extreme is limited to only ten pairs worldwide. Handcrafted in Sweden, it is perfect for those in search of reference-level performance in a design that seamlessly integrates into everyday living spaces.
