FiiO DP11 Combines Compact CD Playback, USB Ripping and Digital Outputs

FiiO has introduced the DP11, a compact desktop CD player designed to fit into both conventional hi-fi systems and digitally focused setups. Its feature set includes an internal Cirrus Logic DAC, analog and digital outputs, USB connectivity and direct CD ripping to external storage.

A compact player built around a dedicated CD mechanism

The DP11 uses a purpose-developed desktop CD mechanism rather than treating disc playback as an auxiliary feature. FiiO has paired the transport with optimized servo control and a supporting structure intended to reduce mechanical noise while a disc is playing.

Its compact format makes the player suitable for desktop installations as well as space-conscious component systems. It can serve as a self-contained CD source when connected to an amplifier, or operate as a transport for listeners who already own a preferred digital-to-analog converter.

The focused design does leave out several functions found on broader all-in-one products. The DP11 does not play SACDs and has no headphone output, Bluetooth connection or network-streaming capability. Its role is instead centered on conventional CD playback, digital integration and disc archiving.

Cirrus Logic conversion and analog output

For direct connection to an integrated amplifier, preamplifier or powered speaker system with a suitable analog input, the DP11 includes a stereo RCA output. Digital-to-analog conversion is handled internally by a Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chip, allowing the player to operate without a separate converter.

This arrangement gives owners of traditional amplifiers a straightforward route to CD playback while preserving the option to bypass the internal conversion stage. FiiO has therefore positioned the DP11 to accommodate both simple systems and more modular component chains.

AES, coaxial and optical digital connections

The rear panel provides three digital output formats: AES, coaxial and optical. These connections enable the DP11 to feed an external DAC, including standalone converters and amplifiers equipped with compatible digital inputs.

Including AES alongside the more common coaxial and optical formats broadens the player’s compatibility with a range of digital audio equipment. Users can begin with the internal DAC and stereo RCA output, then connect an external converter without replacing the CD transport.

USB interfacing and lossless CD ripping

USB expands the DP11 beyond standard disc playback. The player can function as a digital interface for a computer, phone or tablet, supporting its use within systems that combine physical media with USB-connected source devices.

The DP11 can also copy CDs directly to a connected USB storage device. Discs are ripped in lossless WAV format, providing a way to archive a CD collection without routing the process through a separate computer.

Power can come from the internal AC supply or an external 12-volt DC supply. The latter option also allows owners to use a compatible third-party linear power supply if desired.
