Teac has introduced the HA-507, a preamplifier and headphone amplifier featuring exclusively analog circuitry. This dual mono device showcases the manufacturer’s meticulous focus on power supply design. The HA-507 is anticipated to be available for purchase in early 2025, offered in both silver and black finishes.
Teac HA-507: Headphone Amplifier
The Teac HA-507 is the latest member of the Reference 500 series. It is a pure analogue headphone amplifier without compromises that can also be used as a pure analogue preamplifier. The unit is equipped with RCA and XLR outputs and can easily be combined with a Teac Reference 500 Series power amplifier or any other power amplifier to create a compact but complete system.
Under the hood is a fully balanced dual mono configuration that can deliver 6.7 watts per channel into 32 ohms via balanced outputs, making it well-suited for driving a wide range of headphones. With options for both balanced (XLR and 4.4mm) and unbalanced (6.35mm and 3.5mm) outputs, the HA-507 also offers a preamp pass-through function, allowing it to be used as a standalone headphone power amplifier
Teac HA-507: preamplifier
In preamplifier mode, the HA-507 brings Teac’s precision design to the forefront, including the new advanced Teac-QVCS volume control, which uses a high-precision ladder resistor network for smooth adjustments in 0.25 dB steps. The preamplifier also uses Teac-HCLD 2 technology, which provides fast, powerful external amplifier drive. Music signal can be supplied via RCA or XLR.
Teac HA-507: power supply and housing
The HA-507 is powered by two independent power supplies, one dedicated to audio circuitry and another to control circuitry. Large toroidal transformers and high-speed Schottky diodes provide a dynamic and responsive power source, contributing to exceptional sonic clarity and imaging. The smoothing capacity is 18,800 ?F per channel, which is high for a device that does not need to drive speakers.
Housed in a compact A4-sized aluminum chassis, the HA-507 is suitable for both rack-mountable and desktop installation. Its fanless heat-dissipating design and semi-floating 2.8mm thick aluminum top plate ensure durability, while stress-free metal feet enhance the soundstage. Available in silver or black finishes, the HA-507 comes with a dedicated remote control for easy motorized volume adjustment.
