Shanling CD-S100 V25
With theCD-S100 V25 offers Shanling a renewed version of its successful CD player. This new version is based on the architecture of the ET3 CD player and adds extra functions besides the normal CD playback, such as playback from a USB stick, Bluetooth connectivity and compatibility with network protocols DLNA and AirPlay.
Thanks to the many digital and analogue outputs and the connection possibilities it is a flexible device with a much wider range of applications than a normal CD player. Thanks to the USB input the device can be used as a DA converter and thanks to the network and Bluetooth connectivity as a streamer.
The new unit features a DS11 laser sensor coupled to a BD34352 DAC chip, capable of processing a signal that far exceeds the sampling rate of the classic CD (CDs have a resolution of 16-bit 44.1 kHz and it is always PCM). This allows for optimal use of the USB input, with compatibility up to PCM 32-bit 768 kHz and DSD512. The player is powered by a 43VA R30 transformer.
Streaming uses the proven Ingenic X2000 platform. Streaming is possible directly from a smartphone, tablet or computer via Bluetooth, with support for aptX, aptX HD and LDAC codecs in addition to SBC and AAC. Streaming is also possible via the integrated WiFi module.
Shanling claims a frequency response of 20 Hz to 40 kHz (-0.2 dB). For the RCA output, the channel separation is 117 dB and the dynamic range and S/N ratio are 118 dB. For the XLR output, a channel separation of 119 dB and a dynamic range and S/N ratio of 120 dB are specified. The dimensions are 429 x 300 x 83.6 millimeters, including feet, and the CD-S100 V25 weighs 6.1 kilograms.
We haven’t heard any official pricing information yet, but the Shanling CD-S100 V25 will likely cost around $600.
