Naim Uniti Star: Feature-packed all-in-one system

Naim Star
Naim Star

The Naim Uniti Star all-in-one system is not only self-contained from a design point of view, but with support for multiple network protocols, it allows its owner to immerse themselves in an endless world of music with almost instant access to any work.

The Naim Uniti Star network player plays audio files from local libraries, works with external sources and streaming services, and also makes bit-accurate CD rips in WAV and FLAC formats. The built-in TEAC CD transport with high reading speed helps her in this. Rips can be saved to an SD card, USB drive, played or streamed to other devices. On board there is a 70-watt AB-class amplifier and a power supply with a massive toroidal transformer.

The model is equipped with a precision 40-bit SHARC DSP processor, which, using a unique algorithm, filters, minimizes jitter and upsamples the digital signal. After this, the signal is converted using a Burr-Brown PCM1791 DAC. At the heart of the player is a powerful, innovative streaming platform with increased storage capacity that works seamlessly with other Naim network devices. There is a set of S/PDIF inputs, an HDMI input with a return channel and analog inputs, incl. DIN connector. There is a LAN port, a pair of USB for external drives and a slot for SD cards, as well as Pre Out for a subwoofer or end. A DAB/FM tuner is optionally available.

Supports Airplay, UPnP, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with aptX-HD codec, providing sound quality close to lossless high-resolution formats. There is built-in support for Google’s Chromecast Built-In technology, web radio, TIDAL and Spotify Connect services. Hi-Res formats can be played over a local network and from USB drives, incl. WAV up to 32bit/384kHz and DSD128. The Naim Uniti Star is equipped with a bi-directional radio remote control. Alternatively, the Naim App is available to control a multi-room system of up to six Naim devices. The application provides access to all sources, incl. to local libraries and streaming services. The streamer supports work with Roon software (Roon Ready function) – an electronic interactive magazine that displays all the data about your home music library.

Naim Uniti Star has an elegant industrial design that will be appreciated by aesthetes. The material for the case with side cooling fins is aluminum. There’s a gorgeous 5-inch color LCD display, and on top sits a stylish LED-illuminated volume ring – a high-precision discrete analog potentiometer controlled by a digital circuit.
