Klipsch RP-8000F II: Powerful sound, rugged looks and cutting-edge technology

Reference Premiere is one of the most popular series of acoustics from Klipsch, which is loved and appreciated all over the world. Over the years, the Reference line has maintained a leading position thanks to its excellent combination of quality and price. These American speakers have real character and combine powerful sound, rugged looks and cutting-edge technology. The new Klipsch Reference Series delivers consistently high-quality sound no matter where you are in the listening room. Thanks to the 1-inch tweeter in the Tractrix hybrid horn, the sound is maximized and reaches the listener in full.

Klipsch Reference speakers can operate reliably at higher power levels while delivering a wider dynamic range thanks to larger magnets in the tweeters, which improve the dissipation of heat generated by the speakers. You’ll get more bass and less noise thanks to the new Tractrix bass reflex. It has increased efficiency and freely passes a large volume of air. The low-profile magnetic mesh, angled supports and eye-catching speaker mounting give the Klipsch speakers a fashionable and attractive look. The appearance of the speakers is easy to change – just remove or put on the front panels. Klipsch replaced the exterior trim with a textured, wood-look vinyl film. The speakers now have a more durable and stain-resistant surface.

The Klipsch Reference series is still incredibly rich in a wide variety of types of speaker systems – passive acoustics are represented by both floor-standing and bookshelf speakers, there are active speaker systems, center channels, subwoofers, surround acoustics and even Atmos high-altitude channels – an advanced standard for three-dimensional sound space (like in the coolest cinemas).

The Klipsch RP-8000F II is the flagship model of the Reference Premier series, which has all the advantages of Klipsch reference class acoustics. The Klipsch RP-8000F II speakers are equipped with a pair of woofers in combined Cerametallic diffusers with a diameter of 8 inches, connected in parallel to expand the bass range and loaded onto a bass reflex port, the output of which is located on the rear panel. It features a new Tractrix horn design, which allows high-speed airflow to pass through the opening without audible noise.

The front-facing 25mm titanium dome tweeter in the speakers is also loaded onto the Tractrix horn. A design feature of the updated HF emitters of this speaker, as well as those used in all models of the Reference series, is the use of a special dome suspension, which allows its linear movement while strictly maintaining the horizontal surface.

The signature Tractrix horn has undergone significant changes compared to the previous series, which now has square external outlines (90 x 90 instead of 60 x 90 degrees – the four curvilinear surfaces that form the horn intersect at these angles) and a complex hybrid shape: a conical horn oriented near the emitter becomes characteristic of Tractrix technology, opening in the form of four petals of an original complex configuration with a component in the form of a tractrix. The horns for the outgoing Reference series systems were made of ABS plastic, and for the Reference Premiere models they are made of injection molded silicone, which resonates significantly less. In the new speakers, Tractrix technology is implemented in the design of not only the HF horn, but also the FI port (previously the company preferred round ports).

The quality of the lower register is very high: the fairly deep bass is excellently structured and articulated, and in terms of dynamics and timbre it is in no way inferior to the middle and top. Externally, the Reference Premiere models differ from the previous generation speakers due to a number of expressive, albeit discreet, details. With a design focus, as well as to prevent diffraction, the creators of the line made chamfers along the perimeter of the front wall – on three of its four edges. The dark gray (almost black) front panel and stand differ from the rest of the speaker surfaces in color. With the protective grilles removed (they cover the entire front part of the Klipsch RP-8000F II, conveniently mounted using hidden magnets), it is clear that the mid-bass driver diffusers and the logo oriented directly under the horn are identical in color.

Two pairs of input connectors allow you to connect speakers in a two-wire manner. A pair of LF/MF speakers work flawlessly in their allocated band up to 1.75 kHz. In this case, the lower frequency segment imperceptibly joins the upper one, and you cannot hear that the speaker in the horn is working at the top. The Klipsch RP-8000F II presents music with integrity and precision. The sound of the speakers is objectively very good, as can be judged by the presentation of different musical styles. Speakers that handle musical material so well naturally won’t let you down in a home theater.
