Devialet has released a new amplifier called Astra. According to the makers, the Astra redefines the boundaries of hi-fi sound with its unparalleled performance. The new integrated amplifier, which is equipped with analogue and digital inputs, can deliver 2 x 150 watts into eight ohms and has, according to the manufacturer, zero distortion and zero saturation. Devialet has also launched a 23-carat gold-plated version called the Astra Opéra de Paris.
Devialet Astra
There was already the Opel Astra and now there is also the Devialet Astra. Would the person who came up with the name for the new amplifier know that there are also several thousand cars driving around in Europe with the same name? We don’t know and it doesn’t really matter. The fact is that the Devialet with its Astra is trying to serve a different customer group than Opel with its Astra.
The Devialet Astra is, according to its makers, the most advanced integrated audiophile system to date, integrating a decade and a half of research and development into one device. The Astra has an analogue RCA line input, a turntable input (RCA) and various digital inputs. Connection to a network can be established with a UTP cable or wirelessly via WiFi. Devialet offers seamless in-app control and a brand new advanced configurator. The Devialet Astra is fully configurable to get the best out of any sound setup.
A renewed software architecture harnesses the power of the advanced iMX8 processor, combined with the new version of Devialet Operating System, DOS3. This powerful combination radically improves the compatibility of Devialet Astra and ensures the seamless integration of a wide range of streaming protocols.
Devialet Astra: flat and slim design
Devialet Astra embodies the fusion of form and functionality. While remaining true to the sleek silhouette that characterizes the Expert series, the design of Devialet Astra has been thoroughly modernized to enhance both aesthetics and usability. The design draws heavily from the timeless aesthetics of Art Deco and Streamline timepieces. With an emphasis on minimalism, Devialet Astra retains the clean lines of the Expert series, while adding a significant touch of character with luxurious details that are typically found in the dials of high-end watches.
Devialet has also launched a 23k gold plated version of the Astra, called the Astra Opéra de Paris. It is of course a bit more expensive than the regular Astra.
Devialet Astra: mix of analogue and digital
The Devialet Astra features the latest generation of the company’s proprietary ADH technology, unlocking the widest possible frequency range. Central to Devialet’s core technology, this technology works by simultaneously harnessing all the linearity and refinement of analogue amplification (Class A) and all the power and compactness of digital amplification (Class D), delivering Hi-Res sound that stands out in both impact and precision.
The Astra can deliver 150 watts per channel into eight ohms and 300 watts per channel into four ohms. The damping factor at 1 kHz is 2,000. Devialet gives an S/N ratio of 117 dB
Devialet Astra: Speaker Active Matching
Speaker Active Matching (SAM) next-generation technology precisely matches the amplifier’s output to the specifications of the connected passive speakers, preserving their acoustic signature in real time. This advanced technology allows for even finer tuning of the audio signal, achieving perfect time alignment between the captured signal and the sound pressure generated by the speaker drivers – the secret to more powerful bass.
Devialet Astra: Record Active Matching
Proprietary technology called Record Active Matching (RAM) allows the user to dynamically adjust the equalizer to the characteristics of the turntable or vinyl records. The phono stage in the Astra is seamlessly adjusted for optimum performance.
Devialet Elevate program: trade in your old Devialet for an Astra
