Cambridge Audio, a UK-based company, has introduced the Evo One, an exceptionally powerful and elegantly designed wireless audio system that offers outstanding performance, connectivity, and versatility. For the first time, users can enjoy Cambridge’s renowned sound quality from a single, beautifully crafted product, designed by the award-winning designer Ged Martin, recognized by the Red Dot Awards.
The Evo One features integrated speakers composed of 14 loudspeakers and 700W amplifiers, providing an immersive omnidirectional audio experience. Its streaming capabilities are powered by Cambridge’s StreamMagic platform, which has previously been showcased in the CXN100 and MXN10 models.
The Evo One features a total of 14 speakers, including 4 silk dome tweeters measuring 1 inch, 4 midrange drivers with aluminum cones at 2.25 inches, and 6 long-throw cone woofers sized at 2.75 inches. These speakers are strategically placed at the front, sides, and rear to ensure a broad sound dispersion and an expansive soundstage. Powering the system is a robust 700W output, delivered through Class D amplifiers, each providing 50Wrms per speaker. The sound is finely tuned using DSP technology, resulting in crisp audio with well-controlled bass that transcends the compact design of the Evo One. Control of the device is facilitated through the StreamMagic app, which includes a seven-band equalizer (EQ) for personalized sound adjustments. Additionally, the app offers pre-set EQ curves tailored for various music genres and television viewing experiences.
The app’s listening room optimization features enable you to customize the sound settings to match your specific room acoustics. Evo One is designed with the 4th generation of StreamMagic technology, ensuring a smooth and reliable listening experience across a wide array of services and formats. StreamMagic supports streaming from platforms such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Deezer, Qobuz, Roon Ready, UPnP, and Internet Radio, delivering audio quality up to 32bit/192KHz via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
As Cambridge continuously enhances the StreamMagic platform, users can expect regular updates that introduce new features and services to expand its capabilities. For optimal wireless connectivity, the Evo One also includes Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, and Google Cast (Chromecast), allowing music sharing across all devices in your home. It is fully compatible with Google Home, Apple AirPlay, and Roon multiroom systems. Additionally, the Evo One features HDMI eARC for connecting to a TV, as well as a MM phono stage for turntable integration. It also includes a line input, an optical digital input, and a USB-A port for file playback.
Beyond the StreamMagic app, if the device is linked to a TV through HDMI eARC, you can control the volume using your TV remote. Naturally, the Evo One is also equipped with its own remote control.
The device features a sleek design with an MDF chassis that houses the speakers, complemented by a luxurious real walnut veneer panel on the top. The front is equipped with a display and specially designed fabric grills that safeguard the speakers. The display is a 6.8-inch LCD IPS screen utilizing color technology, boasting a resolution of 1280 x 480 pixels, though it is not touch-sensitive. It presents the clock, album artwork, current track information, and VU meters. The Cambridge Audio Evo One has dimensions of 675 x 129 x 290mm and weighs 14.5 kg, with a retail price set at $1499.
