MartinLogan ElectroMotion Architectural series acoustic systems are equipped with a compact ribbon tweeter made using Folded Motion technology using a thin-film driver. This technology sets a new standard for the quality of performance of ceiling and built-in acoustics. The ElectroMotion Architectural line of speakers is designed for those who want to create a multi-channel home theater system with the world’s highest clarity of nuances and the widest dynamic range (or simply an invisible stereo system). In terms of “voice” and timbre of sound, these speakers are consistent both with each other and with the rest of the Martin Logan family of ultra-premium speakers with electrostatic and ribbon drivers.
Folded Motion tweeters create air vibrations (i.e. sounds) in a direction perpendicular to the diaphragm fins (similar to how an accordion plays). The diaphragm of such a tweeter has an unusually low mass. It “compresses” the air so it operates efficiently with 90% less stroke than a typical one-inch dome tweeter. As a result, distortion is radically reduced, and the response to the signal becomes literally lightning fast. Twitter also has an increased surface area. This helps to expand the dispersion of the radiation without losing control, which in turn leads to the creation of a realistic, well-defined sound stage.
Durable fastening locks ensure quick and hassle-free installation. When not in use, the locks are securely held in designated compartments. During installation, the locks securely secure the speaker chassis to the ceiling. If the need arises to remove the loudspeaker, they will again “hide” in their compartments. Installers will also be pleased with the fact that the Folded Motion tweeter is located at an angle. This allows you to direct the speaker’s radiation precisely to the desired location by rotating the entire loudspeaker.
The MartinLogan ElectroMotion line of architectural acoustics is equipped with a completely flat (no visible chamfer) micro-perforated grille, suitable for painting. As a result, a speaker mounted into a wall or ceiling can be made almost invisible. Thanks to the magnetic fastenings, the grille can be installed easily – without the risk of crushing or damage.
Carefully hand-assembled using Vojtko’s proprietary topology using the finest polyester dielectric capacitors and coreless inductors, the crossover features negligible THD and ensures perfect matching between the ribbon driver and the low-frequency driver. The result is a precisely calibrated acoustic system that perfectly reproduces the slightest nuances of sound, while simultaneously revealing the full dynamic potential of any source.
