Swedish speaker manufacturer Marten is about to unveil the Coltrane Quintet, the successor to the Coltrane 3

Swedish speaker manufacturer Marten is about to unveil the Coltrane Quintet, the successor to the Coltrane 3. The new floorstanding speaker will make its debut at the upcoming High End audio fair in Munich.

The Coltrane range has always been a standard of excellence for Marten and is a benchmark for the Swedish manufacturer’s sound. The Coltrane Quintet continues this legacy, delivering crystal clear, high-resolution sound and a vibrant soundstage that is lifelike and natural. According to the designers, the new Coltrane marks a substantial advance in the field of bass response, dynamics and resonance reduction.

Featuring a premium crossover, the Coltrane Quintet features three custom drivers, i.e. a pure diamond tweeter, a beryllium high midrange and an all-new carbon fiber midbass, complemented by aluminum sandwich woofers, all packed into a bass reflex enclosure.

The cabinet is 25 percent larger than the Coltrane 3 and offers a lower bass frequency response. The newly designed carbon fiber cabinet provides superior resonance control while retaining the iconic, sleek and robust profile of a Coltrane. Structural improvements to the interior and front fascia improve stiffness and stability. For the first time, the cabinet is offered in polished carbon fiber laminate with an option for a Piano Black lacquered finish.

The stand has been increased in all dimensions to increase stability, and works with Marten Isolators to separate the speaker from the listening environment.

Coltrane Quintet is available in a range of Marten finishes and prices start at €170,000.
