JBL Studio 698: Flagship 3-Way Floorstanders with Dual 8" Woofers & HDI Horn Tweeter

JBL Studio 698 is a three-way speaker system, occupying the top position in the Studio 6 series. For the midrange band, this model uses a 6-inch driver, and the bass is transmitted by a pair of 8-inch woofers. The speakers boast a long working stroke of the diffuser and reliable suspensions made of rubber. The diffusers are made of the proprietary patented composite material PolyPlas, which, in fact, is a lightweight “sandwich” consisting of two layers of polymer and a cellulose base placed between them. Thanks to this solution, it is possible to increase rigidity and minimize the impact of parasitic resonances. The speaker membranes have special concentric rings. Such a relief texture increases the ability of the diffuser to resist all kinds of unwanted deformations and bends. As a result, the sound becomes cleaner, more accurate and natural, which allows you to truly enjoy not only movie soundtracks, but also high-quality stereo recordings.

The high frequency range is given to the inch compression tweeter equipped with a magnetic system made of neodymium alloy. The tweeter is integrated into a fairly large rectangular HDI (High Definition Imaging) horn. This design of the HF emitter provides a wide uniform dispersion of sound waves, as well as a clean, detailed and realistic sound.

The JBL Studio 698 acoustic system received a superbly damped 36-kilogram case with rounded edges that weaken the diffraction effect. Smooth design lines, a lacquered top panel and finishing with high-quality vinyl film “under the tree” (two color schemes are available to choose from) allow this speaker system to ideally match any modern interior. A pair of phase inverter ports with optimized geometry is built into the rear of the speaker, which makes it possible to get rid of the overtones of the case. Thanks to the presence of four screw terminals, it becomes possible to organize a “bi-wiring” or “bi-amping” connection. To protect the emitters, a removable fabric grill with a plastic frame is used, which is attached to the front panel with magnets. The model is equipped with a set of spikes.

JBL Studio 698 is a universal floor speaker that will perfectly cope with the sound of the “fronts” in a serious cinema set and will show itself excellently in classic stereo.
