Audiovector has launched a new floorstanding speaker called the R 5 Arreté. By the company, the R 5 Arreté was developed over a period of five years, during which more than 2,000 hours of listening tests were conducted during the design phase. The Audiovector R5 Arreté loudspeaker sits between the R3 and R6 Arreté models in the company's R series and is the first in the range to incorporate technologies directly derived from the flagship R10 Arreté .

The R 5 features a 3.5-way architecture with bass reflex ports at the bottom. Two woofers fulfill carefully differentiated roles: one covers the entire bass range, the other is entirely dedicated to the deepest frequencies. Each operates within its optimal bandwidth. The midrange remains completely unchanged: clear, fast, and transparent. Bass that is not only heard, but also felt.

At the heart of the R 5 Arreté lies the latest evolution of our Air Motion Transformer tweeter, inspired by Dr. Oscar Heil's original principle from 1970. This delivers exceptional acceleration and microdynamic precision from 2.8 kHz to 53 kHz. That is far beyond the upper limit of human hearing. Consequently, within the range relevant to humans, the reproduction is linear and free from any stress or distortion.
The cabinet of the Audiovector R 5 Arreté is handcrafted from high-quality, high-density wood. Designed to be listened to and crafted to be lived with, every cabinet is finished to an exceptionally high standard. The standard piano lacquer finishes are Black Piano Lacquer, White Silk Lacquer, African Mahogany Piano Lacquer, and Italian Walnut. Custom lacquer finishes are available upon request.

The loudspeaker measures 111 x 22 x 41 centimeters and weighs 32.1 kilograms. Including the base, the width is 26 and the depth is 48 centimeters. The stated sensitivity is 90 dB.

The proprietary technology called Soundstage Enhancement Concept (SEC) ensures controlled, phase-coherent rearward radiation, improving depth perception, lateral width, and image stability. The driver responds instantly to the first moment of a signal and accelerates from a standstill with a precision that reveals even the smallest details rather than hiding them.
The equally proprietary Accelerated Force Concept (AFC) and Low Compression Concept (LCC) technologies work together to reduce the inertia of the driver and minimize air pressure behind the diaphragm.
The second generation Freedom Grounding safely directs unwanted currents to ground. The result? Silence becomes quieter and details become clearer. A unique three-position damping control precisely tunes the R 5 Arreté to any amplifier: transistor, high-power transistor, or tube amplifier. The new Arreté base, with precision-machined spikes and an integrated decoupling system, eliminates resonance at the source.
According to Audiovector, the Arreté R 5 puts top-class performance within reach. Well, that is of course relative, with a price of just under $20,000 per pair.
