The new Jade Audio GIGAS 1 is designed as a compact analog headphone amplifier for use on a desk or at least near the listening position. The manufacturer has clearly prioritized output power and simplicity, as digital functions and inputs are absent. With a maximum of 4.6 Watts per channel at the balanced output, it is designed to drive even demanding headphones with sufficient power.
No-frills Class AB headphone amplifier

The focus is not on a specific headphone technology, but rather on how much amplification power can be packed into a compact and affordable device. To achieve this, the Jade Audio GIGAS 1 uses a discrete Class AB transistor current amplifier, two analog inputs, two headphone outputs, two gain stages, and USB-C power. The amplifier is available in black, silver, and green at launch; a white version will follow later.

The Jade Audio GIGAS 1 is not a DA converter, streamer, or mobile all-in-one solution, but a pure headphone amplifier. It is precisely this clear focus that makes it interesting: it takes an analog signal and amplifies it with significantly more power than you would normally expect in this price range. That is, essentially, all.
This makes the Jade Audio GIGAS 1 suitable for a wide range of configurations. It can be used with a small DAC, a portable player, a computer with a suitable audio output, a DAC dongle, or with classic hi-fi components. For users, this means a very simple division of labor: the existing playback device supplies the signal, while the Jade Audio GIGAS 1 handles the headphone output. This is particularly convenient for people who listen to music at their desk and want to continue using their existing components.

Jade Audio has fitted a discrete Class AB transistor current amplifier in the GIGAS 1. According to the manufacturer, the circuit is designed to combine high current output with low output impedance. The goal is clear: fewer prominent features, more amplifier power.
This is remarkable in this product class, as many compact headphone solutions primarily advertise features such as DAC functionality, Bluetooth, displays, or app connectivity. The Jade Audio GIGAS 1 takes a different approach. It foregoes digital signal processing and focuses on an analog amplifier section designed to effortlessly drive even more powerful headphones.
Jade Audio specifies a maximum output power of 4.6 Watts per channel. This value refers to the balanced output and makes it clear that the Jade Audio GIGAS 1 is not only intended as a small addition for sensitive earbuds, but also aims to offer reserves where simple headphone outputs quickly reach their limit. The specified frequency range extends from 20 Hz to 200 kHz.
Two outputs, two inputs

The Jade Audio GIGAS 1 features two headphone outputs on the front panel. A 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack is available for standard headphones and headsets, while a 4.4 mm Pentaconn connector is provided for balanced headphones. This balanced output is particularly important for achieving the highest possible output power.
On the input side, too, the amplifier deliberately remains analog. Jade Audio has equipped the GIGAS 1 with a 3.5-millimeter input and an RCA input. This allows the small amplifier to be connected flexibly to various sources. No, a digital control concept and periodic updates are not required. The controls are located directly on the device. The large volume control is situated on the top, while the front panel contains switches for power and gain. Two gain levels allow for adaptation to different headphones, although the high output power means the volume must be used with caution with very sensitive in-ear monitors.
USB-C power supply with two operating modes

Power is supplied via USB-C. Jade Audio offers two operating modes: 5V and 2A, and 12V and 2A via Power Delivery. This allows the Jade Audio GIGAS 1 to be used in various ways, depending on the application and the connected headphones.
The 5V power supply is particularly recommended when maximum output power is not required. With 12V PD, significantly higher power reserves are available, especially at the balanced output. This flexibility aligns well with the overall design of the device: maximum output power in a compact, simple, and attractively priced format.
Metal housing and volume control on the top

The housing of the Jade Audio GIGAS 1 is made of metal and is deliberately compact, i.e., 132 x 60 x 40 millimeters, excluding the feet. With its rectangular shape and large rotary knob on the top, the amplifier is clearly designed as a desktop device. It takes up little space, yet is easy to use.
