Final unveils the DX10000 CL flagship closed-back headphones featuring a 40mm True Diamond driver, CNC aluminum-magnesium housing, premium accessories, and a limited Collector's Edition priced from $8,500.

Final has launched the DX10000 CL, an over-ear closed headphone with closed earcups. The DX10000 CL features the company's newly developed True Diamond dynamic driver. Orders can be placed starting today. The first 150 units worldwide are available as a limited Collector's Edition. After that, the standard version will go on sale. With its price, this headphone sits at the high end of the market, including the standard version.

The Final DX10000 CL features closed earcups and is equipped with a newly developed dynamic driver with a True Diamond diaphragm that has a diameter of 40 millimeters. The diamond layer of the diaphragm is produced using a CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process, creating a self-supporting diamond structure. This is a complex and therefore costly production process.

According to Final, the stiffness of the material, the speed of sound, and the internal damping properties ensure that the diaphragm maintains precise piston movement, while unwanted vibrations and distortion are reduced. The designers state that this is particularly important for closed headphones, where the driver operates under increased air pressure inside the sealed housing.

The driver features a newly developed polyurethane surround, a lightweight polyimide voice coil integrated into the inductor, free-floating connecting wires, an N55 neodymium magnet, and an aluminum short-circuit ring. Final states that these elements are designed to improve control over the driver and reduce distortion.

The housing is precision-manufactured from an aluminum-magnesium alloy using a five-axis CNC machine. Final states that the rigid, airtight housing is part of the headphone's acoustic design, while internal cavities are filled with acoustic damping material to minimize internal reflections. The complete headphone weighs 543 grams.

Comfort and ease of maintenance

The DX10000 CL uses ear cushions lined with Ultrasuede, in combination with a specially selected foam material. Final states that the controlled air permeability of the material ensures that the ear cup remains well filled, while maintaining an effective acoustic seal.

The headphones are assembled using a construction with 12 through-bolts instead of glue. This allows the housing to be disassembled for maintenance, with replaceable wear parts intended for long-term maintenance. Given the price, it is reassuring to know that parts can be replaced to ensure the headphones have a long lifespan.

Collector's Edition, accessories and cables

The first 150 units of the DX10000 CL headphones are being released as a Collector's Edition with gold-colored accents. Each edition comes in a traditional Japanese paulownia wood gift box, a Tango Chirimen silk Shingen pouch, and a CNC-machined aluminum headphone stand.

Both versions include two silver-plated OFC cables developed in collaboration with Junkosha. One cable is 1.5 meters long and features a 4.4 mm connector, while the other is 3 meters long with a 4-pin XLR connector at the end. Two adapters are also included, allowing both cables to be connected to a 6.35 mm output.

The DX10000 CL features a dynamic driver with a 40 mm True Diamond diaphragm, housed in an aluminum-magnesium alloy enclosure. The loudspeaker has a sensitivity of 92 dB/mW at 1 kHz, an impedance of 20 Ohms at 1 kHz, and is manufactured in Japan.
