Atoll Electronique has announced the IN800 Evolution, a new flagship integrated amplifier designed to sit at the top of the French manufacturer’s integrated range. Its dual-mono architecture, substantial power supply and MOSFET output stages are accompanied by optional DAC and phono modules.
Dual-mono architecture and high-power output
The IN800 Evolution is built around a dual-mono configuration intended to keep the two amplifier channels electrically distinct. Atoll specifies a total smoothing capacitance of 128,000 µF, providing the power supply reserves required by the amplifier’s high-output design.
Rated power is 350 watts per channel into 8 ohms, increasing to 550 watts per channel into 4 ohms. Those figures place the IN800 Evolution well above the company’s existing integrated models and establish it as the new flagship of the lineup.
Each channel uses 16 MOSFET output devices. Atoll says these components are carefully selected before installation, reflecting the attention given to matching and consistency within the output stages. The specified frequency response extends from 5 Hz to 100 kHz.
Substantial casework for the flagship model
The amplifier’s physical construction is suitably substantial. It weighs 27 kilograms and measures 443 x 440 x 147 millimeters, giving it the proportions of a full-width, high-power integrated amplifier.
At the front is a 12-millimeter-thick brushed aluminum panel. The internal assemblies are enclosed by a steel chassis formed from 2-millimeter-thick panels, combining the aluminum exterior treatment with a rigid structural enclosure.
Atoll Electronique manufactures its products in France, and the IN800 Evolution continues that approach. An aluminum remote control is included as standard, matching the materials used for the amplifier’s front panel.
Optional DAC and phono expansion
Although the IN800 Evolution is presented primarily as an analog integrated amplifier, its functionality can be expanded through optional modules. Buyers can specify a DAC module for digital source integration or add a phono module for use with a turntable.
The available phono option supports both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. This gives vinyl users a route to integrate record playback without necessarily requiring a separate external phono preamplifier, while the optional DAC provides a corresponding upgrade path for digital equipment.
Atoll has not provided further connection details for these modules, so the precise digital interfaces and phono adjustment options have yet to be outlined. The modular approach nevertheless allows the amplifier to be configured around different source requirements.
Positioning and expected availability
With its 350-watt-per-channel rating into 8 ohms, large smoothing capacity and dual-mono layout, the IN800 Evolution is positioned as Atoll Electronique’s most ambitious integrated amplifier. It combines preamplification and power amplification in a single chassis while retaining optional expansion for digital and vinyl playback.
The company plans to introduce the amplifier later in the year, with the first units expected to become available in September. Specific market-by-market availability has not been detailed.
The IN800 Evolution brings Atoll’s integrated amplifier range a new top model centered on high power, dual-mono construction and modular source support. Its September arrival is expected to add a notably more powerful option to the French company’s amplifier portfolio.
