The German firm Lake People Electronic GmbH has launched a new entry-level stationary headphone amplifier, the Violectric HPA V101, as part of its Violectric brand. With a long-standing reputation in the headphone amplifier market, Lake People Electronic GmbH designs and produces products tailored for the professional audio sector under its own name, while the Violectric brand is dedicated to high-end Hi-Fi equipment.
The circuit design, developed by the company’s lead designer Fried Reim, guarantees that the new Violectric HPA V101 will be the most budget-friendly offering from Violectric while still providing exceptional sound quality. This compact device delivers impressive audio performance.
The Violectric HPA V101 amplifier features a notable capability to connect two pairs of headphones simultaneously. While this may not be an exclusive feature, the manufacturer highlights the meticulous design aimed at achieving optimal performance when both headphone outputs are in use.
This headphone amplifier utilizes discrete component amplifiers, ensuring an exceptionally low noise floor and a high damping factor, even at elevated output voltages. Additionally, the Violectric HPA V101 operates at a relatively high voltage of 60 V, enabling it to effectively drive both high-impedance and low-impedance headphones with low efficiency, thereby delivering superior sound quality.
The seven-stage preamplifier adjustment allows you to consistently identify the ideal operating point for various headphones, maximizing the effectiveness of the volume control range. This capability is further enhanced by a robust power supply unit utilizing a toroidal transformer.
On the rear panel of the Violectric HPA V101 amplifier, you will find a power connector, along with both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR inputs. A small button located next to the connectors facilitates the selection between these input options.
The amplifier’s front panel features a power button accompanied by an LED indicator, a volume control utilizing a premium ALPS RK 27 potentiometer, and dual 6.3 mm jack connectors for headphone connectivity. It boasts a fully linear frequency response spanning from 5 Hz to 60 kHz. The manufacturer claims an exceptional dynamic range of up to 129 dB. The amplifier’s casing measures a compact 170 x 57 x 197 mm.
