To the recently released optical disc players from Shanling ( EC3 , ET3 and CD-T35 ), another one has been added – SCD1.3, capable of playing CD/SACD and equipped with a streaming module that supports AirPlay technology, the UPnP protocol and a Bluetooth adapter.
The new product differs from its counterparts with a top-loading mechanism in its traditional drive with a pull-out tray. The laser pickup is a Sanyo HD870 driven by a MediaTek ME1389EE chipset. There is a button on the front panel to switch SACD and CD layers on hybrid discs. The DAC is borrowed from the flagship M9 Plus media player on AKM AK4499EX and AK4191 chips. The volume control (on the MUSES8920 op-amp) allows you to use the device as a pre-amplifier. Analogue outputs – regular and balanced.
To connect external sources to the DAC, USB, TosLink and coaxial digital inputs are provided. Digital outputs – TosLink, coaxial and I2S (with selectable mode). The player is powered by an Ingenic X2000 processor. Streaming functionality includes support for the UPnP protocol and AirPlay technology, it also provides for reading files from USB drives), there is an upsampler (up to PCM 768 kHz or DSD512), a Bluetooth adapter with LDAC, aptX HD, AAC codecs.
The touch display is 5″ diagonal, it is capable of not only showing the covers of the albums being played, but also displaying simulated VU indicators. The headphone amplifier on the TPA6120 chip develops 1.1 W at 32 Ohms or 153 mW at 300 Ohms.
Note that when playing SACD, only the 88.2 kHz PCM stream is output to the digital outputs. For this we should thank Sony, which developed the format and set such restrictions. Although the code has long been cracked, some manufacturers still produce SACD transports capable of outputting DSD streams to digital outputs.
Dimensions 280 x 280 x 96 mm, weight 6.6 kg. The SCD1.3 player will be available on the global market soon.
