The Denafrips Terminator II 12Th also boasts extensive connectivity options, allowing it to be easily integrated into the vast majority of audio systems. Inputs include USB-B, I2S RJ45 LVCMOS, I2S RJ45 LVDS, I2S HDMI LVDS, AES/EBU, optical and Toslink coaxial. Outputs include unbalanced stereo RCA and balanced stereo XLR. Two clock outputs allow Terminator II and other audio devices to be perfectly synchronized for optimal system performance.
Denafrips Terminator II 12Th has its own linear power stage located under the DAC board and separated from it by a steel partition to avoid any interference. The power supply itself uses two large O-Core toroidal transformers for the digital and analogue sections, as well as low ESR capacitors to supply electrical signal to all audio circuitry.
To ensure the shortest possible signal path, I2S and SPDIF signals are processed by the FPGA chip, without any additional conversion chips.
Terminator II is equipped with two OCXO clocks operating at frequencies of 45.1584 MHz and 49.152 MHz. Housed in a metal housing located at the center of the DAC, these OCXOs are specifically designed for high-end audio applications with ultra-low phase noise and very high accuracy. Both OCXOs are powered by a completely redesigned power circuit that provides constant current to the clock. Sufficient power reserve guarantees linearity and stability of the clock signal.
Jitter is also reduced by resynchronizing the FIFO buffer. The adaptive FIFO buffer stores digital audio data. They are read directly by an ultra-low phase noise OCXO located directly in the DAC.
Terminator II also features an OCXO clock output for perfect synchronization of multiple audio devices.
