With the Altair G2.2 , Auralic is offering a new version of its streamer that also doubles as a DAC and preamp. Version 2.2 adds dual clocks with an updated dedicated power supply, galvanic isolation between the device’s various stages to dramatically reduce background noise, and a new version of the streaming platform.
The Altair G2.2 digital/analog conversion stage is based on an architecture developed by Auralic called “DAC fusion”. This hybrid architecture between a ladder resistor network and a delta-sigma modulator allows for features such as clock recovery, digital filters and oversampling, leaving the final conversion to the R2R network so you can enjoy superior sound quality.
Built on a 64-bit quad-core architecture, the Tesla G3 streaming platform has eight times the processing power of its predecessor. Equipped with 4GB of DDR4 system memory, the Tesla G3 easily handles the most complex processing tasks, making it a future-proof solution that can adapt to the rapidly changing digital audio landscape.
The Tesla G3 platform also uses Direct Memory Access (DMA) technology for the audio input and output channels, allowing all audio hardware and software to access system memory directly, significantly reducing latency and jitter by 90% compared to the Tesla G2.
To ensure clock, power, and input signal purity, the Altair G2.2 uses multiple high-speed galvanic isolation devices.
