Audio-GD HE-9 MK3 is a new balanced preamplifier and headphone amplifier that combines proven technologies and modern developments of the company. This is the evolution of the MASTER series, created after a long process of design and testing. The MK3 version has buffer stages at the output to improve the sound quality in preamplifier mode, dual volume control for precise matching with sources and paired modules for channels, ensuring the accuracy of signal transmission.
The HE-9 MK3 offers five analog inputs: two RCA, two XLR, and one ACSS, and three outputs: XLR, RCA, and ACSS. Headphones are supported by a balanced 4-pin XLR and a standard 6.35mm jack. Each unit undergoes detailed testing using Audio Precision 2700 Series analyzers.
The circuit design is based on a fully discrete balanced Class A amplifier with patented ACSS technology. The design eliminates the use of operational amplifiers and minimizes electromagnetic interference. Power is provided by three toroidal transformers with a total power of 260 W, and the output stage contains eight transistors of 150 W each. The power supply also uses Nover capacitors with a capacity of 100,000 μF.
ACSS (Audio-GD Current Signal System) technology is designed to reduce sound coloration and enhance detail. When using the ACSS output, the XLR and RCA analog outputs are automatically disabled.
The power supply system with regenerative technology deserves special attention. The design provides for separation of the power supply and audio path using aluminum screens, which reduces the level of interference. The influence of this system is felt in a more dynamic sound, an expanded stage and deep bass.
