5Cayin has introduced a new integrated tube amplifier known as the MT-35 Mk3. As indicated by its model name, this amplifier represents an evolution of a previous version. The MT-35 Mk3 features three RCA line inputs and includes Bluetooth connectivity for added convenience.
The Cayin MT-35 Mk3 functions in class AB, providing an output power of 2 x 36 watts in ultra-linear mode. It utilizes four EL34 output tubes (two for each channel), complemented by traditional preamp tubes, specifically the 12AX7 (or ECC83) and 12AU7 (or ECC82). The manufacturer claims that the hand-wired point-to-point circuitry, along with the custom-designed output transformers, contributes to a well-balanced audio experience.
Cayin MT-35 Mk3: Three line inputs and Bluetooth 5.1
The amplifier features three analog RCA inputs along with a built-in Bluetooth receiver, allowing for wireless playback using Bluetooth 5.1 technology. It also supports high-quality codecs, including AAC, aptX HD, and LDAC. Additionally, a headphone jack is conveniently located on the front, accommodating headphones with an impedance range of 16 to 300 Ohms.
The prominently positioned illuminated VU meter enhances the vintage aesthetic while also functioning as a gauge for the bias adjustment of the output tubes. A detachable protective cage safeguards the tubes while providing an unobstructed view of the seven glass spheres.
Users have the option to operate the amplifier in either ultra-linear or triode mode. In triode mode, the power is limited to 2 x 18 watts, but the manufacturer claims it delivers an exceptionally refined and pure sound experience. The bias voltage can be individually adjusted for each output tube.
Loudspeakers can be easily connected using distinct terminals for both 4 and 8 Ohm configurations. Additionally, tube replacement is straightforward. Alongside the standard EL34, other compatible models like the 6CA7, 6L6, or 5881 are also supported.
The designated frequency range spans from 8 Hz to 60 kHz (at -3 dB level). The signal-to-noise ratio is 93 dB, and the input impedance measures 100 kOhm. Its dimensions are 326 mm in width, 278 mm in depth, and 184 mm in height. The total weight is 13.5 kilograms.
The Cayman MT-35 Mk3 is expected to be released with a silver front panel in March 2025, followed by a black variant in April 2025. The recommended retail price is slightly below €1,600.
