FiiO has released its first over-ear open-back headphones, the FT3 .

Sound is produced by the vibration of a material – thus the choice of speaker is very important in determining the quality of the sound. The FT3 features a large 60mm dynamic driver that is unparalleled in its class. Compared to a smaller speaker, the FT3 can move more air and convert energy into sound more efficiently – resulting in more natural yet powerful sound with a wider soundstage.

The FT3’s large dynamic driver has other advantages. For example, due to its large size, the membrane can handle higher output power, resulting in less distortion for large dynamic signals. Additionally, the larger speaker is capable of reproducing lower frequencies for deeper bass.

The highest sound quality is achieved thanks to high-quality materials.
The membrane is one of the most important parts of a dynamic driver. And not any membrane material can meet the requirements of FT3 due to the large size of the speaker. After countless tests, FiiO chose a beryllium + DLC diaphragm.

The FT3 speaker gasket is coated with beryllium. This not only allows for a lighter diaphragm (and therefore a lighter driver), but also a stiffer pad that better handles the movement of a large dynamic driver and introduces less distortion.
The FT3 membrane is made from DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon), which is both highly durable and lightweight compared to other membrane materials. This means the FT3 driver is less susceptible to breakup and therefore harmonic distortion, and also has an extremely extended frequency response and improved soundstage.

Smartly designed, the 350 ohm high impedance
FT3 has been designed with superior sound as the primary goal, and uses a 350Ω impedance to achieve it. Compared to low-impedance headphones, high-impedance headphones filter out noise more effectively for the listener, resulting in cleaner sound with a higher signal-to-noise ratio.
