Schiit Audio has launched the Wotan stereo power amplifier, which now holds the highest position in the company’s lineup. The Wotan amplifier delivers 200 W per channel at a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms and 400 W at 4 Ohms. This doubling of power with a halving of impedance showcases the amplifier’s impressive energy density and effective circuit design. The product is constructed on a “dual mono” architecture and features switchable feedback along with intelligent temperature management. Additionally, it is compatible with the proprietary Forkbeard control and integration system.

The Wotan power amplifier’s power supply features two 600 VA transformers, one dedicated to each channel. It includes a filter with a capacitor bank rated at 160,000 μF. The output stages utilize 24 high-performance Toshiba bipolar transistors.

The Schiit Audio Wotan power amplifier utilizes the Nexus differential amplification technology, originally designed for the flagship Tyr Monoblock. This balanced current feedback circuit enables the conversion of single-ended input signals (typically RCA) to balanced output signals (usually XLR). Furthermore, users can easily toggle the overall feedback on or off using the front panel controls or the Forkbeard app.

Schiit Audio has enhanced the usability of the Wotan amplifier by ensuring its compatibility with the Forkbeard control system. This system provides real-time monitoring of output power and gathers various system statistics, such as temperature and current. Users can remotely manage feedback, switch between inputs, and activate standby mode. Additionally, the Wotan includes a Bluetooth remote control; however, access to the Forkbeard system requires the iOS app.

The Schiit Audio Wotan power amplifier features built-in sensors that track output current, temperature, and various operational metrics. A 32-bit microprocessor manages the amplifier’s functions and provides protection in case of any faults. Additionally, the unit includes two fans that activate gradually as the temperature increases, ramping up to full speed if required.
