Linn has launched the 343, a compact floorstanding loudspeaker developed from the outset around the Scottish manufacturer’s Pistonik driver technology. Buyers can choose between a fully active Exakt Integrated model and a Passive with Active Bass configuration.
Pistonik system combines two bass drivers
The 343 is Linn’s first loudspeaker designed around Pistonik technology from the beginning. The system employs an 8-inch downward-firing bass driver alongside a 6-inch Pistonik unit responsible for higher bass frequencies.

Linn says the motor system is engineered for linear operation, extended excursion and controlled output. According to the company, the two low-frequency drivers together handle approximately 70 percent of the speaker’s acoustic workload, covering frequencies from the deepest bass through much of the range responsible for musical body and weight.
Positioning the 8-inch driver close to the floor allows it to work with a reflective acoustic boundary. Its downward-facing orientation is intended to distribute bass energy around the room while using the mass of the complete loudspeaker to oppose the driver’s reactive force. The curved lower section of the enclosure provides the internal volume and geometry required by this arrangement without widening the front baffle.

Composite enclosure supports compact proportions
Linn has given the 343 a continuous cabinet profile without sharp edges. The shape is designed to reduce diffraction effects that can reveal the physical position of an enclosure, while helping reflected sound retain a spectral balance closer to that of the direct output. Linn’s stated objective is stable spatial presentation across a broad listening area.
The cabinet is formed from a glass-fiber-reinforced molding compound. Its stiffness and density permit thinner walls while maintaining structural integrity, allowing more of the enclosure’s interior to be used for the bass system and electronics module.
A flowing lower edge visually connects the main cabinet to its base while also serving an acoustic purpose. This design accommodates the downward-firing driver and preserves the speaker’s slender appearance, supporting Linn’s aim of delivering its reference-oriented technology in a form suited to domestic rooms.

Exakt Integrated and active-bass options
The 343 Exakt Integrated is the more self-contained version. Its rear electronics module contains a Utopik power supply, an Exakt digital crossover, Power DAC architecture, Organik digital-to-analog converters and amplification with Adaptive Bias Control. Together, these technologies manage the signal path and drive the speaker as a fully active system.

The Passive with Active Bass model, also identified as PWAB, retains the same 6-inch and 8-inch Pistonik drivers. Its bass section uses Linn’s Utopik power supply and Power DAC technology, while the remaining drivers require an external amplifier. This arrangement gives owners a route to retain separate amplification while benefiting from internally powered and controlled low frequencies.
In both versions, the rear module sits beneath a curved cover that follows the cabinet profile. Linn mounts the assembly on a three-point suspension system intended to isolate the electronics mechanically from cabinet vibration.

Silent cooling and six finish choices
Cooling is entirely passive, avoiding the need for a fan. Linn developed a triangular aluminum heat sink with internal fins that draws air through the module using a chimney effect. Heat exits through a machined vent at the top of the loudspeaker.
Both versions of the Linn 343 are available to order in six finishes: Triton, Single Malt, Clyde Built, Linn Heritage, Piano Black and Alpine White. Every finish is paired exclusively with black accents.
With its dual-driver Pistonik bass system, molded composite enclosure and choice of fully active or partly active operation, the Linn 343 brings several of the company’s proprietary technologies together in a comparatively compact floorstanding design.
