Cyrus Audio has introduced the Cyrus 40 PPA phono amplifier. In early October, the British firm unveiled the 40 Series. This product line is now enhanced by the Cyrus 40 PPA, a highly customizable phono amplifier. The designers state that the 40 PPA builds upon the legacy of earlier models from the brand, such as the Phono X and the Phono Signature, which were launched to celebrate Cyrus’ 30th anniversary. Aimed at expanding the limits of sound, the 40 PPA represents a substantial improvement over prior designs, both in terms of technology and aesthetics, as claimed by the manufacturer.
Cyrus Audio 40 PPA
Cyrus Audio engineers completely redesigned the 40 PPA’s internal circuitry. The new six-layer PCB layout is designed to reduce interference by isolating key circuit paths from each other, with the goal of reducing noise to almost zero. A new power supply is claimed to reduce noise by 20 percent compared to its predecessor, the Classic Phono. The gain control has been refined and is now adjustable in precise 5 dB steps.
A striking feature of the Cyrus 40 PPA phono amplifier is its user-friendly design. Most of the adjustment functions, including the fine adjustment of the cartridges, can be controlled via the remote control, and the selected values are displayed on the glass information display on the front. This allows listeners to make adjustments from their seats, eliminating the need for repeated manual adjustments.
Cyrus Audio 40 PPA: Connect four turntables simultaneously
The user can connect four turntables to the 40 PPA simultaneously. The 40 PPA can handle both MM and MC cartridges and offers a wide range of options, including load and capacity. Music signal comes out via a cinch output and an XLR output
Optionally, performance can be increased by using the Cyrus 40 PSU, an external power supply that is also a member of the 40 Series. The manufacturer provides a five-year warranty on the 40 PPA.
The Cyrus40 PPA has a suggested retail price of just under $2,500.
