Featuring modular flexibility, enhanced heat dissipation, and a user-friendly interface, the 232 is designed to deliver audiophile-grade performance. A standout feature is the prominent heatsinks that extend partially across the front panel. Burmester claims that this design facilitates efficient cooling, lowering internal temperatures by approximately 10°C. The objective is to enhance long-term reliability, ensuring that components operate optimally, thereby minimizing the risk of thermal stress and maintaining consistently high performance.

The 232 features a newly designed single, multi-functional control interface known as the ‘HaptiControl’ dial. This innovative dial replaces a multitude of buttons and switches, responding to both rotational and pressure inputs while providing tactile feedback that adapts to the specific function being utilized. Although similar precision-engineered dials have been incorporated in premium products from brands like Devialet, Linn, and Naim, Burmester aims to enhance the experience by offering adaptive haptic feedback across various functions. The front panel maintains a clean and organized appearance, complemented by a high-resolution display concealed behind mirrored glass, which completely vanishes in standby mode, contributing to the amplifier’s minimalist design.

Burmester has adopted a modular design philosophy for the 232. It can function as a purely analog integrated amplifier, or for users seeking greater versatility, it offers interchangeable input boards that facilitate additional digital inputs or the integration of a phono amplifier. The optional DAC module supports high-resolution audio processing up to 32-bit/768 kHz, with Burmester emphasizing its ultra-low distortion and dynamic sound reproduction. Additionally, the optional phono module is tailored for MC cartridges, utilizing circuit technology derived from Burmester’s esteemed Phono 100 and 077 Reference preamps.

A significant development for Burmester is the launch of the Conduct App, now available on both iOS and Android platforms. This application allows users to remotely manage essential functions of the amplifier, enabling them to adjust volume, switch inputs, and modify settings such as screen brightness and input levels directly from their smart devices.

In conjunction with the Conduct App, Burmester has also rolled out the Owners Club customer portal. This platform serves as a centralized resource for device management, firmware updates, and detailed feature explanations. Beyond offering technical assistance, the portal is designed to enrich the user experience by delivering tailored product information, software alerts, and exclusive content for Burmester owners. This initiative aligns with a broader trend in the high-end audio sector, where manufacturers are increasingly adopting integrated digital ecosystems to enhance customer interaction and provide ongoing service support.

Burmester specifies the amplifier’s output at 150 watts per channel into eight Ohm and 200 watts into four Ohm. The Burmester 232 has a weight of 29 kilograms and dimensions of 450 x 177 x 480 millimeters (W x H x D).
