TIDAL x BUGATTI MA1 Brings 1,500-Watt Muscle to a Bespoke Monobloc

TIDAL Audio has introduced the TIDAL x BUGATTI MA1, a new reference monobloc power amplifier positioned as the successor to the Assoluta Monobloc. The substantial design combines high output, active power-supply regulation and individually tailored finishes within the companies’ collaborative high-end audio collection.

True monaural architecture with substantial power reserves

The MA1 is a dedicated monobloc, meaning one amplifier is required for each audio channel. TIDAL rates its continuous output at 420 watts into 8 ohms, doubling that figure to 840 watts into 4 ohms. Into a 2-ohm load, the amplifier is specified to deliver 1,500 watts.

Those figures are supported by a linear power supply incorporating three 1,000 VA transformers. Each transformer is magnetically shielded and mechanically decoupled, while total stabilization capacity is listed at 800,000 µF. Active regulation is used to provide a stable foundation for the amplifier circuitry.

TIDAL presents the MA1 as its most advanced power amplifier so far, designed to control a wide range of loudspeaker loads. Its specified bandwidth extends from 1 Hz to more than 250 kHz at the -0.5 dB points.

A direct signal path and separate protection system

The amplifier uses a fully DC-coupled input circuit. According to TIDAL, there are no coupling capacitors or relays in the signal path between input and output, an approach intended to avoid placing additional components in the path of the audio signal.

Protection duties are handled by TIDAL’s proprietary APM system. The company says this circuitry operates entirely outside the signal path, separating protective monitoring from the route taken by the music signal.

Together, the DC-coupled topology, wide specified bandwidth and regulated supply establish the technical basis for the MA1’s reference-level positioning. TIDAL says the design focuses on retaining low-level information, dynamic contrasts and spatial detail without adding an identifiable sonic character of its own.

Large-scale construction for a flagship system

The MA1 is a physically imposing component. Each amplifier measures 69 × 52 × 41 cm and weighs 110 kg, or 242 pounds. A stereo installation therefore requires two substantial enclosures with a combined amplifier weight of 220 kg.

Its dimensions reflect both the monaural construction and the scale of the internal power supply. The use of three transformers, extensive stabilization capacity and mechanical decoupling makes the MA1 a product intended for dedicated reference systems rather than conventional equipment racks.

The amplifier replaces the Assoluta Monobloc at the top of TIDAL’s power-amplifier range. It also draws on more than two and a half decades of the German manufacturer’s work in high-end audio design and construction.

BUGATTI-inspired finishes and individual customization

The MA1 forms part of the TIDAL x BUGATTI collection, pairing TIDAL’s amplifier engineering with design cues associated with the automotive marque. A floating BUGATTI emblem is positioned on the top plate, providing the clearest visual link between the two brands.

Owners can work with the manufacturer to select individual colors and finishes. This customization program means that each stereo pair can be configured as a bespoke commission rather than being limited to a single standard exterior treatment.

TIDAL has announced the official launch of the MA1 but has not provided a price or detailed market-by-market availability information. Given its reference status, two-chassis stereo configuration and customization options, the amplifier is positioned at the most specialized end of the high-performance audio market.

With its 1,500-watt output into 2 ohms, actively regulated linear supply and direct signal-path architecture, the TIDAL x BUGATTI MA1 is a technically ambitious replacement for the Assoluta Monobloc. Its considerable size and bespoke finish program further underline its role as the flagship power amplifier in TIDAL’s collaborative BUGATTI range.
