Klipsch is celebrating its eightieth anniversary, and partly to mark the occasion, Klipsch is expanding its Heritage series with the Rebellion, a passive two-way monitor loudspeaker with a distinctly vintage appearance. The model is based on a design by founder Paul W. Klipsch from 1958 and combines classic design features with modern loudspeaker technology.

Klipsch debuted the Rebellion at the recent High End Vienna. This compact two-way loudspeaker is based on the historic H8 model, of which reportedly only 16 units were produced. With the Rebellion, Klipsch also caters to the desire of many audiophiles with a fondness for classic audio equipment. A loudspeaker with a vintage design naturally pairs perfectly with an amplifier featuring large knobs and VU meters.

Technically, the original concept has been thoroughly modernized, and the Rebellion is therefore simply a modern loudspeaker. A K-81-EP compression driver handles the high frequencies in combination with a K-703 Tractrix horn featuring Klipsch's patented Mumps technology. A newly developed K-702 woofer takes care of the low frequencies. A rear-facing Tractrix bass reflex port is designed to reduce air turbulence and promote controlled bass response.

As with the other models in the Heritage series, Klipsch places great emphasis on craftsmanship. The speakers are handcrafted in Hope, Arkansas. For each pair, real wood veneer layers from the same tree trunk are used, guaranteeing a consistent grain and appearance.

The Rebellion can be used in both classic stereo systems and traditional home cinema systems. Klipsch recommends the KS-24 speaker stands as an addition. In addition to various standard finishes—namely American walnut, American chestnut, black ash, and red oak—a limited Tigerwood special edition is available in honor of the 80th anniversary.
