At the recent High End Vienna, German audio manufacturer Canton unveiled a new product line of loudspeakers featuring enclosures that avoid right angles. The new monitor model Puro 30 and the floor-standing Puro 90 feature an enclosure with an oval cross-section.

Canton ‘s new line initially consists of the compact Canton Puro 30 and the slim floor-standing Canton Puro 90. Both models feature a minimalist oval design, passive speaker technology with aluminium drivers, and are therefore equally suitable for stereo and home cinema applications.
With the Canton Puro series, Canton addresses a theme that is becoming increasingly important in modern living environments: high-quality music reproduction must not only be technically impressive but also blend seamlessly into the space. The new series therefore leaves the classic angular loudspeaker shape behind and opts for a sleek, rounded silhouette. This gives the models an almost architectural character, without reducing them to mere design objects lacking acoustic appeal.
Canton Puro 30

The Canton Puro 30 is a compact loudspeaker with dimensions of just 14.5 x 21.5 x 10 centimeters. Weighing only two kilograms, the Puro 30 offers flexible placement options. This makes it suitable not only for classic stereo applications at close range or in smaller living spaces, but also as a discrete rear speaker for surround sound setups.

The Canton Puro 30 is a two-way loudspeaker with a sealed acoustic design and a bass reflex resonator. A 25 mm aluminium tweeter works in conjunction with a 110 mm aluminium mid-woofer. Canton specifies a nominal power handling of 50 Watts, an usable power handling of 120 Watts, a frequency range of 45 Hz to 30 kHz, and a sensitivity of 86.5 dB. The impedance is 4 to 8 Ohms and the crossover frequency is 3.9 kHz.

The Canton Puro 90 is the largest loudspeaker in the new series. With dimensions of 14 x 105 x 10 centimeters, it is remarkably slim. With a stated weight of 9.3 kilograms, it is considerably more robust. The stand is made of cast aluminum and is designed to ensure stable placement.

The Canton Puro 90 is a 2.5-way loudspeaker with a bass reflex enclosure housing five drivers: a 25 mm aluminium tweeter, two 110 mm midrange drivers, and two 110 mm woofers, all with aluminium cones. Canton specifies a nominal power of 90 Watts and a music power of 150 Watts. According to the manufacturer, the frequency response ranges from 40 Hz to 30 kHz, with crossover frequencies of 400 Hz and 3.3 kHz. The sensitivity is 87.5 dB and the impedance is specified between 4 and 8 Ohms.
Canton Puro: trendy colors

An important feature of the Canton Puro series is the color selection. In addition to matte black and matte white, Canton also offers sand, pink, and walnut. This places the series more in line with modern interior concepts than with classic hi-fi aesthetics. Pink, sand, and walnut, in particular, demonstrate that Canton views its loudspeakers not merely as technical components, but as visible elements of a living space.

This approach is remarkable for a line of passive loudspeakers. While active lifestyle systems have long featured variations in color and material, more classic passive hi-fi loudspeakers often remain understated and conservative. The Canton Puro series combines familiar loudspeaker technology with a design that integrates more easily into diverse interior styles.
